Was Tyson really ahead on the cards against Douglas (as is often said)?

It reeks to high heaven that this sport which we all love can be so infernally corrupt as to have "officials" who could have had Tyson even or ahead in the scoring.

I agree. I like Mike, but that night he got a boxing lesson.

    My scorecard:

Buster beat the living **** out of the listless, lethargic stationary target with brutal combinations, it was like shooting a fish in a barrel.

    1. Douglas 10-9

    2. Douglas 10-9

    3. Douglas 10-9

    4. Douglas 10-9

    5. Douglas 10-9

    6. Douglas 10-9

    7. Douglas 10-9

    8. Tyson 10-8*

    9. Douglas 10-8; due to brutality of the beating laid upon the exhausted & battered Tyson.

    Douglas: 88, Tyson: 81

*I know someone said Buster was still beating him up before the knockdown, so they scored it 10-9, but Tyson had rocked him in that round too, so i think it's a proper 10-8. Mike actually looked like he wasn't sluggishly sleepwalking for a few moments in the 8th!

I'll go even farther than you.......

.....you'll be hard pressed to find a 30 second interval in any round that Tyson won.

Had Tyson-Douglas gone to the scorecards, it would by far be remembered today as the worst decision in boxing history.

This is whats wrong with the sport......How the hell does a judge who has this fight even close get the chance to judge another fight?:patsch:-(

On a fair score card Douglas was ahead.

I think the fact that Don King and Jose Sulaiman actually tried to change the result to Tyson KO8 Douglas shows the level of corruption being brazenly attached to Tyson's championship, and the depths to which they would OPENLY drag the sport to.
Luckily, the press and the public weren't that brainwashed to be duped by their crookedness.

Douglas was handing out a beating. If it hd gone the distance, and Mike had retained the title, then it would have been a robbery.

    Yeah.
They might be scoundrels too but they showed some morals, decency and sanity on this.
