The truth is that Seldon was hurt against Bowe, but embarrassed, and wanted to con Bowe into thinking he was not hurt. But then the truth came out when he got dropped again very quickly. Seldon was a decent boxer with really fast hands when going up against a guy who didn't punch really really hard or a guy who kept a slower pace. But fast pace and huge power - well, neither his chin nor his condition could handle it. The Bowe fight showed that he did not have the chin for a big puncher, so the Tyson fight was no anomaly, but consistent with what he was. McCall was strong and wore Seldon down. Plus Seldon had poor conditioning and wore himself out. No surprise. Both Ribalta and Tubbs dropped him in the 1st round too. Seldon was lucky to have caught Tucker when he was past-it and no longer very sharp or in any shape after a 15-year career. They fought for a vacant belt, so Seldon was only a paper champion and lucky to have ever gotten a belt at all. Goes to show what the alphabet soup of belts in the modern era really mean. Seldon never beat a legit top guy.

We can't know for sure how badly Seldon was hurt. I think he was a guy who didn't take it very well going against a guy known for explosive power and starting really fast, a guy who made a rep on stopping guys quickly. So I don't understand why folks are so shocked that a brutal fast killer puncher who starts fast would quickly stop a guy without a good chin. Tyson stopped fighters with solid chins too! The thing folks are stuck on his how the knockdown looked. But we can't know what might happen to us until we allow Tyson to throw that same punch on the top of our heads. The punch did land. I have watched it in slow mo several times. He did get up and continue, and that next hook clearly landed on his chin. Those were legit knockdowns, in my mind.

I believe Seldon was hurt. Was the exaggerated wobble legit? Could be. Berbick wobbled all over the place and he had a good jaw. Or it could have been Seldon, knowing he was hurt, and not wanting to take any more, with the heart taken out of him by those punches, checked out of the fight at that point to save himself punishment. It happens. Like I said in an earlier post, I knew this was going to happen and bet that way. This result was no shock.

Don't like it? Don't pay to watch a brutal puncher fight a weak-chinned fighter.

Yeah according to you,Tyson and King paid Seldon, to 'pave Tysons path to Bruno for his title'

    You're truly pathetic.

Is there a reason why you didnt respond to my response on that earlier on on this thread?

    Seldon just bottled it.

Tyson himself said afterwards he felt he didnt even hit Seldon that hard

Yeah you got me, Seldon fought Tyson after Bruno. Still Don King didn't want to see his son get upset before facing Holyfield. the first mistake you've ever caught me out with, what's that about 10-1 in my favour??

Any reason why you've gone all quiet on your thread about Tyson wanting Foreman?

Guess I'll be in for a long wait.

    First mistake?

You need to go through your post history.

Who would have upset Tyson outside of Holyfield, Lewis and Bowe?

Yeah that's the first error I can recall making about your hero unlike you who's made countless errors.

Why are you dodging my questions about both our Foreman vs Tyson threads??

Was there a third Tyson/Bruno fight we don't know about?

Poor Bruno. Figured the second time was enough.

I don't think Seldon's dive was prearranged. It was just a case of Seldon being terrified of Tyson and waiting for the right time to fake a knockout and get the hell outta there. Problem was he did a **** poor acting job and should've at least taken a halfway decent shot to make it look real, not a punch sail over his head before falling. It kind of reminded me of the Ketchel/Johnson fight where Jack begins to fall before Ketchell's punch "lands" on the top of his head. Mike got an easy/tainted victory...but it did little in helping him prepare for an opponent who would later come to fight...Holyfield.

Jack was trying to turn his head away from it, and got clocked. The frames are rough with it being such old footage.

There used to be a guy called Jack Prescott who used to post in the GF. Guy was obsessed with (discrediting) Oscar De La Hoya.
Wuss2005 reminds me of him

I think Tyson vs Etienne was the more likely fix.

Hear me out, Tyson was complaining about his back. He had just been Ko'd by Lewis, and needed an impressive win. Etienne stood right in front, took a punch, then took the count smiling. Then he got up as if he just returned from vacation BS!

Embarrassed on how easy it was Tyson did not interview well. Etienne was a convict. He lost again, then somehow got a title shot from the WBA, perhaps as a reward for taking a dive from Tyson who at the time was a golden goose hope for one more big fight.
