If we're being honest quite a few fighters took a dive against Tyson, wether or not it was all down to fear is another matter. I'm with you on that Etienne's knockout was very suspicious IMO. The way he immediately gets up on solid legs after supposedly being knocked out cold is very suspicious.

Hear me out, Tyson was complaining about his back. He had just been Ko'd by Lewis, and needed an impressive win. Etienne stood right in front, took a punch, then took the count smiling. Then he got up as if he just returned from vacation BS!

Embarrassed on how easy it was Tyson did not interview well. Etienne was a convict. He lost again, then somehow got a title shot from the WBA, perhaps as a reward for taking a dive from Tyson who at the time was a golden goose hope for one more big fight.

We'll never know for sure, but I suspect this was a fix Sometimes the winner has no clue the other guy is taking a dive. Other times he does.

The fix here made sense for both guys. Yes, it is likely Tyson has some fixes post prison.

Even some of his pre title fight opponents took dives IMO, they more than likely would rather fake it than feel it. The Etienne fight gave a lot of Tyson fanatics false hopes of a resurrection, sadly Danny Williams shattered the dream.

Yes it is very strange Etienne got a title shot after being TKO'd the fight previous by Brock.

Yes. In addition Valuev had some questionable calls for him. IMO, he clearly lost to Donald and Holyfield. Ruiz vs. Valuev could have gone either way, but lets face it Johnny wasn't good for business!

Speaking of Valuev, I'm disappointed he declined to meet Vitali and Wlad.

  6. I don't think it was fixed.

I think Seldon was literally so afraid of Tyson that he was basically looking for any way out he could get, he took a glancing blow (that didn't seem all that powerful), and dropped to the canvas.

I don't think he ever wanted to be in the ring with Mike that night, or any other night for that matter.

i dont think it was fixed, it was more a case of etienne getting caught with a good punch, you simply cant fake that reaction.

however etienne was able to get up but he just didn't bother

So basically you're confirming it was a fix? Etienne could have got up but didn't want to, I'm sure the fans that payed a lot of money to watch the fight would be mighty impressed at such a feat.

The problem with Seldon in that fight was not his chin, it was his lack of manliness.

Seldon pulled this **** with Bowe as well, even though he got tagged by a solid shot he wasn't quite sure if he wanted to continue after the first knockdown. That's not fix, it's a quit job. A fix is a predetermined result. There's your english lesson for the day.

If it wasn't a fix, it was as close as you could get to one. The other thing to consider is that Seldon became box office poison to promoters after that one. He wasn't ever going to be paid big money again. He literally took on a pay decrease of about 2000% overnight. Tough sport to continue on making champ change when you are used to top money.

So if he didn't take a dive for the money, he sure did not earn much more $$$ in the ring. How could he? If you were a promoter after that Tyson fight, how much would you sign him for to try and headline a card? Or try selling him to HBO?
