Was Uzcategui hitting Dirrell after the bell intentional/flagrant? What is after the bell protocol?

I think Dirrel got rocked but consciously chose to pack it in.

Regardless, Uz was a warning deep, heard the ten second clap, heard the ref warn that the round was about to end, and still punched after the bell. I can't blame the ref for calling that a DQ. Uz wouldn't take instructions.

The DQ decision itself I don't have a huge issue with to be honest; I can see why the ref gave it although I do think it was harsh as he couldn't pull that last punch back in time, no way. But that part is debatable.

What I dislike greatly is Dirrell getting onto his knees and then rolling back down onto the deck, that's pathetic and I think ultimately what helped make the ref's mind up. As for his uncle, what a piece of ****.

Anyone see Claressa Sheilds on Twitter? My oh my she was spilling some absolute trash.

I saw it. I was saying I didn't have a link to the first warning for hitting after the bell.

Screw that what I wanna know is why the hell was Dan Rafael masquerading as a ringside physician and did he actually think no one was going to notice on a televised card?

Say the very same punch landed, same time scale after the bell but Dirrell just took it flush and walked back to his corner - like happens on many occasions in fights - would the ref have docked a point? Not a chance, I've seen boxers get away with warnings for a couple of late shots. So why is a fight waived off via DQ just because of its effect as part of a legitimate combination? The ref had other options, like giving Dirrell up to five minutes to recover, if he felt the final blow was after time.

There are reports that Uzcategui's team are appealing for a 'no contest'. But Uzcatgegui's manager now posted on twitter the rule that if a bout is stopped because of an accidental foul after 4 rounds it goes to the scorecards to determine the winner. So that better be the appeal. A no contest would be as wrong as a DQ! He interestingly also states that video replay was available for use. Which has to mean the ref can't get last word and there should be no debate that the late punch was barely late and accidental. https://pbs.twimg.com/media/DAkSo7dXcAE69LJ.jpg

It was 100% unintentional. Dirrell should have been granted 5 minutes rest and recovery, then the fight should have continued.
