Thats what i thought. Lack of fights and coupled with age seems to have slowed Ruiz down to Valuev standards. If the Ruiz of 2000-2002 was fighting Haye then i think Ruiz would drag Haye into a messy fight and actually win. But against Serin Ruiz looked very, very beatable. Haye imo should look very good in this fight. Anything less than a stoppage should be a negative for Haye, imo.
im sure he does have the power. i know tomasz bonin is a nothing heavyweight who audley (audley has good power also) ko'd but remember when haye just jabbed and wobbled him? you could see the excitment in haye, he couldnt believe the power he had. i think 100% he will go out to KO ruiz and achieve it
Valuev likes to buss a skank now and then his whole career has been based around his happy go lucky attitude. He was just showing Haye the Russian version of the Migraine Skank.
Bull****. Barrett took how many clean shots before being stopped?? He has power, alot of power, but I think its a tad overrated.
TheUzi, everything he landed on Barrett were clipping shots. Yet they were knocking Monte around. Haye punches fast, hard and with real venom.
Haye is definitely a big puncher, but I've never seen him take anyone out with one punch bar Gorev, who had previously been sparked in a round anyway. He's a big puncher, the speed and power he generates is extremely dangerous, but Wlad has taken out Ray Austin and CHambers will one punch and completely wiped them out. I hate to say it but Wlad has the biggest one punch power in the divison, that much has been proven.
Totally agree with you...Haye is a big puncher but as Fleaman says,Wlad has the most one punch power. Look at Wlads straight right...get hit clean with that and its goodnight.
Funnily enough, both KO's I used as an example were left hooks His straight right is lovely though. The one he hit Chagaev with was a beat'; still not an ATG Heavyweight puncher though, otherwise the likes of Chambers and Chagaev would not have made it out of the 2nd. I'd rank Lennox over Wlad in terms of sheer power.
Valuev wasn't hurt! If you read Valuev's pre fight interview he made a big point of saying that he was a big fan of Michael Flatley's Lord of the Dance. He specifically said that he had been practising a tribute for him that he would show in the 12th. It was similar to Monte Barrett giving Prince Hamed a tribute with his ring entrance in the Haye fight!!!
Not one of those knockdowns was a clean shot and he still put him down everytime. I think Wlad has more one punch power but Haye is definately not far off and with the speed makes him extremely dangerous whoever he fights.
Good point raised here, because I really really believe that Valuev wasn't hurt by that punch in the same vain that Mayweather wasn't hurt by the Hatton in the first round of their fight. However I do believe Haye to be a very very big puncher, he needs to be taking his time though to be honest as he seems to be wobblying/Knocking people down with a hell of a lot of 'Clipped' shots. If he took his time a little and made his punches count he'd be a lot more destructive. Agreed with Flea too, Wlad's straight right is definitely one of the most hurtful punches in the division and Haye desperately needs to find a way to neutralise Wlad's jab otherwise he'll be a sitting duck for that right for however long the fight lasts
