It was by far the most enjoyable fight for me this year. The skill level was way higher than Thurman/Porter, LSC/Frampton. I guess it depends on what kind of fights you like, if you just like seeing punches landed than Salido/Vargas would probably be FOTY, but I enjoyed this fight way more.

It was a good fight for sure. I think we should wait on Walters/Lomachenko first though.

Easily the most intriguing display of boxing for the year for me. It's my type of fight, and I need to see it two more times.

By far. Two evenly matched fighters at the highest level without excessive fouling.

It was one of the most interesting fights, but FOTY usually goes to the most action packed, and so it doesn't really count.

I was not a good fight, Ward was "given" the belts, he did not earn them................Judges should be suspended. I knew the fix was in after watching the undercard, Hook lost badly to Perez for example, complete mismatch, yet the judges gave it to Hook.........................sick.................

I completely agree. It had the knock down, was intense through every second, and both guys laid it out there the last three rounds. The ebb and flow and the adjustments both guys made made it a special fight. Yet when one guy seized control he didn't outclass the other. I think it might be the greatest tactical boxing match I've ever seen. What other boxing match can you think of where both guys showed that much skill, and was that close and intense? It eclipsed Marquez-Barrera and Toney-McCallum for me. Fight of the year for sure.

I had a bunch of casuals at the house talking about how great the fight was....it was excellent SK's early dominance and then Ward grinding him down during the stretch these guys came to fight. Awesome stuff

I think the fight tonight more than Mayweather's dominance of Pacquiao was the perfect advertisement and introduction to boxing. After Ward was knocked down and Kovalev looked like a monster a casual should be impressed that Ward recovers, then wins most of the middle rounds without 'running'.

Razor thin fight I literally think it could have gone either way I'm curious to know who has the edge in a rematch? Sk can push harder? Or does ward optimize in the knowledge he gained?
