Was the WBC heavyweight belt the most prestigious one in the glamour division '97-'99?

I think that the World Boxing Council Title was and still is a very prestigious belt, its long time late President Jose Sulaiman brought fame to many of its titleholders throughout history. His son is now the president, Mauricio Sulaiman, but in the era of 1997-1999 it was a very strong belt to have owned back in that era.

Solid points. So then in your opinion, was this the order of prestige of heavyweight boxing belts between 1997-99 (most prestigious first): WBC, WBA, IBF?

Interesting. Do you mean historically OR between 1997-99?

Intriguing; what about historically the most prestigious belt -- would you say it's the WBC?

Over time I’d rate them, in order:

    WBC, IBF, WBA, WBO.

As far as this specific period of time in that particular weight class, I’d go with whichever one Lennox Lewis was holding (I think that’s the right timeline — IBF?).

I don’t think any of them hold more power or prestige over the other. The public’s perception of them though is another matter. The WBA has become a joke over the last couple decades

So that particular timeframe Lewis was holding the WBC strap, before becoming undisputed.

Quite honestly I don’t think any of them hold any particular prestige now.

Yes, these other alphabet soup titles of course came later, money tied up in them.
