Reality sinking in. Never fought at the top level before. It drains average fighter mentally and physically when they find themself in the deep end. Poor guy was overmatched. Got paid well for it though.
He’s not lived up to any expectations here but credit to Fury for nullifying Whyte in the fight. He’s now been sparked and battered by Fury, no promotion of himself during the build up and his silence post fight is deafening. All in all for a man who waited so long for his shot that when he got it he misfired badly.
Whyte came into the biggest fight of his life in appalling shape and looked gassed after 2 rounds. He's lazy, he can't stay in shape between fights and can't even get motivated to get into shape for what likely will be his one and only chance to fight for a belt. Tbh Fury looked like garbage too, plodding performance from both.
I don’t think it mattered honestly. The gulf in class was too great. Whyte was getting tuned up and made to miss wildly early on even before the fatigue set in.
Mate, he's always like that. Plods forward al la Chisora, swings wildly, misses wildly, gasses out, tries dirty tactics. Gets thumped by the uppercut It was a typical Whyte performance.
I don’t know what it was, but he was not his usual self. He was lethargic, deflated, hesitant, uneasy... southpaw??? wtf??? Southpaw?? Why would you make such a silly drastic major change in the fight of your life after being orthodox your whole life. I’ve seen this happen to many fighters in the past who likely overtrain annd then on fight night they are so deflated and lost before bell even rings. Honestly, all that 253 pounds of brawn was useless. Amounted to nothing. Might as well have come in the 230s of that is how you going to perform. All that training for what? To throw multiple off balance wild loaded punches? He should have left that amateurish behaviour in 2015. Last night, Whyte was a big waste of space. Disgusted with his performance. Worst version of Dillian ever. Even against AJ where he was quite green he landed so many flush shots against AJ.
One thing people haven't picked up on yet is Tyson's spectacular KO victory in front of a record breaking attendance of 94k last night also put paid to all this ridiculous nonsense about Dean Whyte ever being able to live with Big John Fury if they went mano a mano against each other. That was always a grotesque mismatch too
Whyte was at his usual level but he looked bad because Fury stood out, he was also the toughest opponent for Whyte so far, I would put Whyte on the same level with Parker, Chisora, Ortiz etc...
As soon as Whyte went southpaw it was obvious him and his team were panicking and over thinking things. It reminded me of when Wilder tried to do body shots against Fury in the first round of the third fight, but it just didn't look natural.
