I don't care about Ring rankings.

I'm asking you to list those 10-15 heavyweights who are contenders -- NOT current belt-holders, not currently on the shelf (Tyson Fury and Povetkin are out of it right now, as is Lucas Browne) -- actual CONTENDERS who are better than Washington and all of Wilder's other title-fight opponents.

    I'm guessing you cannot.

    Pulev
    Ortiz
    Takam
    Jennings
    Haye
    Fedosov
    Wach
    Teper

Now that list has removed Povetkin (who hasn't been suspended yet as far as I know the WBC is still investigating)

It has removed Tyson Fury due to inactivity and mental health issues.

It has removed Wlad until April when he fights again but win or lose he would be on this list. Actually if he lost because if he won he would have a belt and be precluded from this list.

It has removed Parker who possesses a belt like Wilder

It has Joshua removed who owns two belts.

Wach and Teper above are both more proven than Washington and will be fighting each other very soon. The winner would remain on the list and the loser would likely fall off the list.

Now that's just my opinion but all these men rate higher than Washington to me.

People I also believe are better than Washington but don't have the fights under their belts to prove it are Rivas, Kuzmin, Miller, H. Fury, Wallisch

Ruiz jr. Based off the Parker performance could be on the list but he runs hot and cold I think he vs Washington is a great fight. A fight Ruiz likely wins.

Make no mistake the division right now is very weak or Top heavy if you prefer and do to a myriad of circumstances it is wide open, that affords Wilder the opportunity to fight less than good opposition and continue his charade.

If the division was healthy, example Povetkin didn't have his issues, Wlad was more active, ditto Fury, I would rate Wilder no higher than 6th on my HW list.

His opposition has been dreadful Molina (a joke of a defense) Arreola (a joke of a defense should of been 1-5 in his last 6 bouts), Duhaupas (a joke of a defense who did much better than expected and legitimized himself somewhat defeating the shot Helenius) but who looked closer to what he is against Povetkin, a tough but extremely limited fighter. Szpilka a crude blown up cruiser defeated far more comfortably by Jennings. And Washington a converted football player with some athleticism but very raw skills. Are all below par defenses.

Parker in fewer fights faced Takam, Ruiz jr, and now H. Fury

Joshua in fewer fights is facing Wlad
The winner will likely face Ortiz or Pulev

And here we got Wilder looking to fight Warzick etc

    Proof is in the pudding.

40 pro fights a former Olympian that has 1 top 10 opponent on his resume at 31 years of age.

    Just not cutting it.

Hopefully he fights Parker next and doesn't waste our time with the Stiverne farce or the tough but slow and limited Breazele.

If he does need an interim fight pick Jennings or Takam. Legit guys who consistently fight good opposition and deserve the shot

When a fighter in the position Deontay is in, doesn't engage in challenging fights, his skills erode and he fails to improve.. champions are supposed to improve with each defence, mainly because with additional defences, comes bigger challenges.. Wilder has had none.. worse than that, he's actually lost numerous rounds to fighters who really shouldn't have been in the title picture.. Molina, Duhaupas, Szpilka, Arreola and Washington all had varied success, Duhaupas even closed his eye.. 5 defences and still no household names.. Joshua has only just become champ and he's already took the klitschko fight.. mmm.

I would say maybe! the fight went as i thought it would and knew wilder would be somewhat nutralized with the body jabs and jabs itself by Washington. He never fought a tall guy with basic skills before who could move around and switch it up. Against a better seasoned guy that makes fewer mistakes he will have to resort to the k.o one punch where he will be susceptible to a recieving his own knockout! Still have to give him benefit of doubt and ASSUME he leaned something here? He has a shot at Parker bc Parker is open to recieve right hands far easier.

Everyone is forgetting this WAS Washington's only 20th fight. Everyone seems to be brushing that under the rug which is important because he was making many mistakes a more seasoned Washington wouldnt. i do think it puts into perspective the myth Wilder should be remotley favored against Joshua or Klitchko, either guy k.os him. So theres that!

Exposed? Only if you thought Wilder had decent fundamentals going in to the fight. Even Wilder fans know he is very limited in the skills department. He has that great equalizer and carries it deep into fights, so opponents need to be careful the entire 12 rounds. He also has good stamina. That helps him maintain his pop later in the fight.

I don't think enough people quite appreciated the extent of Wilder's crudeness before now. He was never regarded as a technical master, not even his fans ever thought that, though it was at least expected that he could box at a reasonable level against the lower tier fighters in the sport. Now we know he can't even do that, which literally puts him in the category of guys like Randall Bailey and Max Baer, quite a far cry from this top level fighter they'd like to build him up as.
