Not after 2 rounds. But Wlad did the right thing he fired Sdunek (who was the conditioning!!! coach) after this bout, not Steward! With Emanuel he works hard and become the No. 1 Heavyweight.
No. Why do people look to discredit wlad's losses? He gassed against purrity because he didn't do his homework and didn't realise purrity could take a hell of a punch. Sanders was know flule. Again wlad started very strongly, commanding the fight with his jab. Really letting his hands go. Sanders caught him with a counter and never gave him chance to recover. Vs brewster he suffered the same fate haye did against thompson. He got overconfident, went for the kill two early, gassed and got stopped. Call it overtraining, wrong gameplan, overconfident, underrating. Whatever you want. The fact is he lost, and he has since turned his career round changing from a joke to an all time great. His losses are a credit to him because it underlines the obstacles he has had to overcome.
Yes... I drugged him. There, now we can move on. Oh yeah, I'm sorry Wlad fans. I had to do it... bet the house on Brewster. How do you think those odds changed so much?
Huge Wlad fan but he wasnt Drugged. He was gassed thou. I dont know why maybe he was ill or something but he got his ass kicked because he was gassed and i am not sure what caused that.
No of course not "now" Wlad is in his prime and un-beatable, back then might of had a panic attack or nerves could of drained a lot of his energy or he might of taking Brewster lightly, either way he lost but he's a different fighter now maybe due to the loss as well as few others, he learned his lesson and improved in any case I find him boring nowadays but his boxing skill and accuracy for such a big man has become impeccable.
That single straight left by Brewster to Wlad's chin was the most significant punch in the fight. Watch what WALD does as soon as he eats that punch. He had to hold on for dear life first, then he decided he better get Brewster out of there before he gets caught. So Wlad goes on to hit Brewster with everything he has, just to get him out of there. But he was also pressured into moving at a MUCH faster pace in there than he's used to. Brewster does not get the credit he deserves for outright winning this fight. He was game that night (unlike the shell that showed up for that farcical rematch). He pressured Wlad into folding. Wlad looked his best offensively in losing to Brewster, but he also showed that he's only got 4 rounds of high level stamina in him. What gets me is how the ref gave Wlad a standing 8 count in a fight where there was ruled to be 'no standing 8 counts'. This fight would have ended up as Mercer vs Morrison 2, had Byrd not been so kind to Klitschko. The man just gassed out from the pressure. He can dish out for a short while, but he can't take much punishment. Even Peter (yes, Peter) put him down 3 times, but barely landed ANY punches on him in that first fight. Brewster was a heavy bag in the first fight, but still managed to beat Wlad, cause Wlad's heart is weak. Wlad wasn't drugged. He just can't take it. :-(
Brewster was one tough ****er. He was fun to watch. Damn shame about his eye injuries, and I hope that's the extent of his injuries from boxing. Watching him fight and eat shot after shot to the head, you got the bad feeling that he'd end up like a Jerry Quarry. I had always thought that the Sergei Liakhovich fight started his eye troubles. Turns out (according to Thomas Hauser) that Brewster actually had eye surgery before the first Klitschko fight for a retinal tear. The Klitschko, Krasniqi, Meehan, and Liakhovich fights, as well as others, all apparently took place after Brewster had torn his retina.
This. :deal Plus Wlad was with Manny Steward & always trains 100% for fights, regardless of quality of opposition, so to say he was "underprepared" would be silly too.
Let me add that Pilla here isn't even a big Klitschko fan and he's been critical of him in the past. All true, but still doesn't prove he was drugged. Again I'm not saying he was or wasn't, but surely Wladimir had something wrong with him that night & it had very little to do with Brewster's punches. Wlad could barely hold his hands up..................the rematch proved the better fighter-period.
I don't believe he was drugged. Never will. Don King would steep that low, but to pull it off perfectly and not get found out would be almost impossible, considering people outside like cooks or chefs, or cleaners, or boxing officials would've had to be in on it. The "too much vaseline trapping the heat in his body causing heatsroke" theory is more plausible
