Washed up/passed their prime fighters that can still win a title.....if matched right

Good thread! I think Paulie M might be able to jink and dodge his way to another alphabet belt should a slow, power-house type fighter get a strap.....

 

Tony Thompson....could beat Arreola or Wilder if they are WBC titlist. He could also likely beat Adamek or Chagaev if either of them picked up the vacant paper WBA strap.

Adamek could beat Arreola still, and would likely beat Chagaev if offered the opportunity to fight for the paper title.
Same goes for USS.

Chagaev could win the paper WBA title if he was matched vs a Wilder/Mitchell/Price type.....someone who's chin isnt up to standard.

Arslan and Gomez could win titles at CW, especially vacant or interim titles.

Zolt Erdei could probably beat Brahmer, would give Stevenson a run for his money.
Bute is considered washed up, but he'd easily bet Abraham, Brahmer, or Bika, and he could easily beat Roidnard.
Kessler's not considered washed up yet, but he'd beat Abe, maybe Brahmer. He'd give Stevenson and Roidnard a run for their money.

Cotto is considered seriously shopworn and fighting 3 divisions higher than he did 5 yrs ago. I would give him a serious look if matched vs Quillin or Molina. I think he's about 50/50 with "washed up" Champion Martinez.

Pac is kindof considered washed up, but he'd easily KTFO Roid Mayflower. and smoke the beltholders at 147.

Amir khan possibly if he's matched against a light punching, weak champion.

Glad everyone has come up with these, I was thinking "...Bute?..." but thought it might be perceived as trolling since he's not really past-prime or washed-up, they are very derogatory labels but still.....I think Froch beat the shine off him.

Tony T a great shout as is Cotto. Definitely past their best but kryptonite for some styles.

Could Chisora be another if you consider his peak-best was removed on Haye's left glove...?

I think Juanma could win a title again if he got a fight with Argenis Mendez. I'm not sure how he'd do against Miura or or Uchiyama.
