I thought Liston went down too easily as well.

:yikes Shock Horror!?? How did anyone not know!??:huh. Can't believe it sorry that, along with the ground breaking stuff about Jimmy Savile in recent years, is just about the MASSIVEST shock EVER!?? :-( never saw that coming in the slightest?? Are you some kind of gullible conspiracy nut!?
Sorry if any of this comes across as sarcastic sounding as this is in no way my intention :D

More surprising is the thought that Wilt was on the take in 69. That was the finals in which he left the game with a minor injury and did not return.

[And nothing suggests the bureau ever fully corroborated the suspicions it investigated
Not so strange when you consider that the suspicions were founded in gossip passed on by a man who is described as "a gambler and a con man".
That Sonny should have made over $ 1.000000 (a huge sum in those Days) betting doesn't ring true given that he was to have died more or less broke.

This article is about the second fight. Take the time to read it. There are a couple details I do not recall being included in the many articles written previously.

Christ, you are right. Sorry I was posting at 5AM before coffee. I usually refer to the first fight as Liston-Clay, not Ali-Liston as the article does…

Carry on. I will wait till full consciousness takes hold of me before I post from now on...

Haha actually I'm not sure whether the article is sure which one it's referring to - admittedly they are mentioning Liston taking a dive so it sounds like they're referring to the 2nd fight but thought it was a release of info under the 50 year freedom of information thing so if it's that then it would have to be the first fight so god knows?? Maybe the writer doesn't even know they had two fights which wouldn't surprise me either haha only thought it was another article referring to the first fight after seeing this article aswell (which funnily enough talks about the first fight yet has a picture of the second hahahahah

What the story really implies is that the mob thought they had the fight fixed and then realised they didn't - the guy starts by confidently predicting the round Liston is going to win then suddenly changes his advice to not putting money on at all.

More likely there's nothing in it. It's a story told years later by some gambler claiming that another gambler hinted that something was going on. Not exactly compelling evidence.
