i dont know if you have the opportunity to watch the fight on HBO PPV because all i got was a shitty Golden Boy low quality PPV, i mean something is better than nothing but i was hoping to hear the HBO crew but instead i have to put on with a "unknown" telecast crew that didnt make it for me. somebody can explain me?:huh
It was on PPV, people on SOPCAST and other channels got the GoldenBoy commentators, did you get the same ordering it on HBO TV at home?
yep thats why im telling because i always received the HBO PPV with the HBO crew,,,so actually Lampley and them called the fight?
how did the judges have the fight at the time of the ko i was watchin it but i fell asleep i guess some where around the 8th round i woke up and it was 4 in the morn seamed really close til the 8th
The Golden Boy production was as bad as a bad tv B movie that never made it on dvd. It made Showtime look like seasoned pros. I was highly disappointed. I have no beef with Mario Lopez, but if you are going to place him as a host, at least let the guy practice or make sure you get someone who knows a little about boxing. He sounded like someone who didn't know of any of the fighters or ever watched them fight. The commentators were so monotonous, and the fights leading to the JMM/Casamayor sucked to the max.
i agree it was terrible but in defense of the commentators, barry tompkins was the the lampley on hbo prior to lampley (granted this was a **** long time ago, but he worked with ray leonard and larry merchant when merchant didn't have white hair) and mario lopez has been the "color" guy on top rank broadcasts for a while so he isn't totally clueless about boxing
The one thing GBP did right outside of the card itself : This content is protected !!! My favorite English/Spanish translator!! "Put some water on his balls! Put some water on his baaaalllls!!!" (I believe in one of the Pac/Morales fights) and, "Be intelligent! You're much more inteellliiigggeenntt!!!" (to MAB in the hamed fight). He's hilarious!!
Ray Torres has to be the worse translator. I prefer the guy from Showtime; he is definitely more accurate.
