Lads are sitting/training and waiting for fights that were not seeing, how busy should we expect our top fighters to be ? I realise its not the 50's

At least once every 2 months in their first year as a pro seems fine to me, probably once every 6 weeks, 8 fights first year is decent going.

Depends on the individual - physically not everybody is the same, however some boxers these days are too inactive.

    Prospects, 8 times a year.

    Domestic level 5 times

    Euro level 4 times

    World class 3 times

Wold Champions fighting twice or ONCE (i'm looking at you, Haye) a year, is bull****

Young prospects should be fighting twice a month for the first two years as a pro

Once that platform is in , inactivity is not a problem , fighters are used to fighting and staying in shape for a fight , i.e. on weight and good cardio , theres no reason this shouldn't still be happening

Lets be serious, no pro these days is going to get over 40 fights in two years as a pro, just won't happen.

A sign of the times , theres no reason they shouldn't be fighting a minimum of 12 - 15 times a year in there first two years

a big problem is shows being called off and late pull outs i know injuries happen and its a shame but i believe pros should b ticking over in the gym all year round having a week or 2 off after every fight then wen they get a date start upping the training depending on rounds etc

  11. I think ten times in your first year is about right, and a similar number next time around.

That way you've got the time to cram in all the different kinds of opponent without taking risks.

    Tall/short
    Long/short
    Quick/slow
    Orthodox/southpaw
    Hookers/uppercutters/backhanders/jabbers
    Runners/spoilers/pressure fighters

Plus a few on home turf and a few elsewhere.... you can get that kind of experience gradually and by that time you're at 8-10 round level.

It seems people are too keen to grab a belt of any kind whether it be international masters or interalphabetty, fighting over 10-12 rounds, when in truth a number of fights over 8 rounds is what would be better for the lad's development.

Don't worry about the drop in income because of sales relating to a BS title - just fight the once more per year = sorted!

Top fighters Id expect to be out at least 2/3 times a year, a bit more if Domestic level.

Propects should be out alot more often to learn the trade, they dont fight 12 rounders either so need to build up to them.

I'd like to know how these young prospects are surving, they cant be earning too much to begin with so aswell as learning the trade they need to earn the cash.

Depends on the fighter, but normally 6 to 8 fights a year starting out...

If the fighter is a banger, and his opponents fall like ripe apples it's custom to up that number significantly.
I can't imagine why some boxers are on the job for about 10 years and still have under 30 fights.

Not just that mate but the fighters don't seem to be a) progressing or b) ever in shape to fight , there seems to be constant issue's with notice periods , injuries , making weight , if a fighter was just in camp and ready to fight we'd more likely see better fights and more of them , even in the modern " protected " era
