Vitali's cuts were caused by legal punches, not my fault Vit couldn't cope with some roughhousing. Chump.

Wrong chump. Lewis cheated and then ran away.

    LOL

TKO 6, fight stopped by doctors because of cuts caused by legal punches.

    Deal with it.

The people who come out with the Lennox Lewis post-fight nonsense akin to "look at the state of his face" look just as stupid (and weirdly biased) as Lennox Lewis did when he was coming out with that nonsense.

I don't think that the punch thrown by Lennox Lewis was an illegal one, but it was indeed a fortunate, grazing punch which tore the skin. It was not a 'traditional' cut in the sense that the cut was caused by the force of the skin against the frontal bone.

Humility and boxers don't tend to go together, so it's unsurprising that Lennox Lewis couldn't admit as much. There's nothing wrong with having a slice of luck, perhaps being brought about by being tough and hanging in there like the champion Lennox Lewis was, but to claim that "the state of his face" was brought about by a dominating performance which would have continued until its natural victorious conclusion is farfetched.

I always enjoyed Vitali's fights more than Wlad's. Especially after Wlad hooked up with Manny Steward. I don't really blame Manny for what Wlad became; he saw what he was working with, figured out a way for his guy to win and instructed him thusly. Vitali was giant and stout in a way that Wlad was not and though he often looked awkward to me, he seemed to know how to use the real estate. Also he either paced himself better or knew how to fight better when tired because you didn't see him getting KTFO while waiting for that second or third wind. I always thought Vitali the better of the two.

Curious what the point of this thread is given the recent Usyk-Chisora fight. Is this only about Vitali near the end or something else too?

I don't think the biggest Usyk supporter is suggesting Usyk is on Vitali's level. Usyk is a great boxer and absolute ruler of the CWs. However I think he will be out gunned and sized vs. the likes of Fury and AJ. Be interesting to see if he could be SCW champ.

James Ali Bashir described Vitali as "cavalier" in mindset, differing significantly from Wladimir in that respect. Vitali's awkwardness became a strength, with how he stood so upright and was able to lean back to get out of the way of shots - someone who really used his height to his advantage. He didn't box in the traditional sense, fighting more so on instinct.

Uh, Compubox has Vitaly throwing 66 punches in that round to Chisora's 27, and before you start on the inevitable "compubox is never right" spiel, that is pretty close to how I estimated it without doing a hard count, with Vitali clearly throwing 2-3 for every one Chisora threw.

What does the word "knackered" mean to you? Because it sure can't mean "tired," or else you have simply used it incorrectly.

Why look up stats when you can watch the round with your own eyes? The stats don't count all the times he clinched. The stats , unlike the eye, don't show his punches were floppy arms slaps , which is the only type of punch you can throw when tired.

I clearly told you in my post that I did watch the round, and the stats confirmed what I they said.

Clinches happen in the twelfth round of a fight. There weren't that many, and what there were were mostly mutual.

That was a round for Vitali that almost any heavyweight fighter would be happy to have in the second. Period.
