So this past week I have been watching clottey's past opponents to gauge were he stand as a competitor. Many of you have done the same as I've been reading the threads that pop out day to day..

This thread is to discuss how good clottey is, or why you think he is not good.

After seeing Margarito vs clottey I am honestly amazed at what clottey can do, I like his reflexes and combinations he throw. He has this one move against Margo when he would Margo would come forward clottey wod faint back and throw a right to the head coming forward which would always connect and make Margo look as if he was hurting.

His downfalls are his innactivity, he throws, rests, throws rinse and repeat.. But when he is active man is a beast.

He cAn take a punch, margo did not ever daze him or had him hurt to the point clottey would get KO'ed. Margo could have possibly had loaded gloves so that says a lot about his chin.

Please don't mention cotto knocking him out, because if your smart you would know that clottey. Was off balance.

A ******* -lol cotto dropped with with a jab, manny my lord and saviour will kill him

In reality, I like your post dude, Cottey has FAST hands, he is a bit stationary true, he throws beautiful combinations, watch his masterpiece against Diego Corrales. Watch him beat Margarito with ease until he hurt his hand. Watch him beat Cotto only to be robbed, watch him beat Baldomir only to be robbed. He has a right hand unlike Pacquiao's recent opponents but he has a very good left hook to the body and to the head. His defence is magnificent, he is very good at blocking punches. The downside is he takes rounds off and plays possum and Pacquiao at times will look like it is the De La Hoya fight again. But, watch round 6 of the Cotto fight, Clottey went to the ropes and Cotto hit him with many shots, first time I saw it i thought Cotto was killing him, then I re-watched it and realized Clottey was countering him off the ropes.

I talk smack about Pac/Clottey, but I am just ripping. Clottey is no walk in the park.

Clottey is a great fighter with serious skills. His problem is that he mentally doesn't seem to realize that to be the man you must beat the man. He literally gives fights away. Now we can say that that is all he has or other guys are beating him. Unfortunately for him, he always looks good enough to win, but just never does it. Literally, he looks so good losing it pisses you off!

Hats off to Pac for taking the fight, but it isn't a Mayweather fight.

That knockdown was a balance issue amplified by a perfectly timed and placed shot by Cotto. It was a legit knockdown, no doubt, but Clottey was never seriously hurt at that or any other point in that fight.

He was a real problem with ho w he perceives the fight is being scored and takes the pedal off the medal in close fights for seemingly no reason, but the dude can take a punch.

There is a possibility that Clottey has learned from the Cotto fight and will up his work rate. Remains to be seen of course.

I think that throw down Clottey got in the corner affected the fight. He hurt his knee. After that he wasn't as mobile.

Good assessment of Clottey. He has the tools to give ANY elite welterweight hell. If he could pick up his workrate, stamina, add a little movement he could be among the elite himself. The mans been in with punchers Marg, Cotto, Zab and never been visibly hurt. He can also fight a little dirty and Pac doesn't really like that. This is a real challenge and Clottey is more than capable of pulling an upset.

The knock down was no balance issue ,it was a stepping jab. Check some of the old time fighters books .That said, the guy is a very good fighter.

I really like Clottey, he's though and very durable as the TS have pointed out he's been in there with powerful guys, but his chin has remained solid at welterw.
He is very methodical and doesn't take enough chance IMO, which is something I wish he would learn to do.
I think his low workrate is his biggest weakness, but he protects himself nicely and he also have a good offensive arsenal when used,
not very flashy so some judges might appreciate his style.
he is coming forward with his head sometimes, and he might open a cut like he did against cotto, by using his head.
One last thing about Clottey is that he sometimes comes up with excuses to why he lost instead of accepting his defeat. He might get frustrated by Pac
and if he is not 100% focused he will lose this fight for sure, so I really hope he's done his homework, cause he seems like a decent fellow.
This fight might be average at worst, but I really think that there at least will be alot of tension when they get in the ring.

Clottey is tailor made for Pac's style.

A guy who just stands and covers up with low output. Pac will be tagging him from angles all day long.

Styles make fights as people always say and this one is a stylistic nightmare for Clottey who was outworked by Cotto. What do you think Pac will do to him.
