Unless Floyd KNOWS that Shane has become a shot fighter in the past year, this is absolutely a dangerous fight. I don't recall anybody calling Bernard Hopkins an easy, old opponent after he destroyed Tito. Why are people saying it about Shane after he wiped out Margarito?

Is the Shane Mosley of ODLH I is gone? Yes. His legs are a bit stiff and he can't let his hands go as effortlessly as he used to.

But he's a different type of fighter now and has adjusted his style to compensate for his weaknesses. He's jabbing to the head and body to set up his punches. He can throw bombs from the southpaw stance after stepping into it a la Andre Ward. He's committing to every power shot instead of throwing flurries.

Can we agree - no excuses about Shane being shot after the fight?

Its different when your opponent stands right in front of you. Mayweather Mosley will in no way resemble Mosley Margarito. It will be a much more tactical boring fight.

Meaning Margarito was tailor made for Mosleys style. Mayweather is not.

Whole different fight, but shane will prepare for it.

Shane Mosley is a great fighter. Floyd will have to work for a win.

I have a feeling that floyd is going to rip into the media at the press conference.

IMO, SSM is never an easy opponent. Some people might think so in his upcoming bout w/ FMJ because of ring rust. FMJ may well beat SSM but it's not going to be easy.

Of course Shane won't look as great vs. Mayweather, just as Mayweather won't look as great against Shane as he did versus JMM. They're both stepping up in competition. But Shane's only really had trouble with much bigger guys (Winky, Forrest, Mayorga) and fought to a virtual draw against a prime Cotto (who I say would have been a 50/50 fight for Mayweather). There's no reason to think that he's going to show up to the ring and look like Carlos Baldomir as some people are fearing.

The trouble is, no matter what people say, fighters can get old over night, shane could train perfect for this fight, but come time to get in the ring, he could just loose it all there and then.
I hope he has enough gas in the tank to make a good fist of it against fraud and maybe pac.
Lets see how it goes, but on paper, shane is frauds worst nightmare.
I hope shane has enough left to expose fraud for what he is.

So much negativity from so many people.
Shane was expected to get steam rolled by Margarito and came out and put on a great performance.

Don't underestimate mosley. He will be ready, i'm sure.

It's not like Shane wouldn't get hit. It's the question who will fold. This is gonna be war.

Mosley definitely not shot, but certainly past his prime. He is a less aggressive fighter now, but not as reckless. His teaming with Nasim Richardson is the best thing that could of happened to him. He still has good footwork, but not the same as he had acouple years ago. When he tires or as a defensive measure, he ties up his opponents like he did with Margarito. Pre-Margo Cotto was able to outbox Shane using superb footwork, angles, jabbing, and short combinations and took alot of right hands from Shane. I think Floyd should be able to outbox Shane, but Floyd will have to weather and sustains Mosley's aggression for 12rounds unlike he did with Judah for only 4-5. I think it will go down something like 8-4 or 7 rounds to 5 for Mayweather. If Floyd wins, he should get the credit from fans and haters alike.

No matter what happened, or will happen...if Mayweather beats Mosley, people will say he beat an old, faded version of Shane.

Shane looked great vs Concreto, but you have to keep it in perspective.

    Cheato was dog-**** that night,,,

On top of being thrown off his game mentally by getting busted just prior to entering the ring... he was weak from having to shed too much weight too fast... unfocused, under trained and just physically and mentally unprepared to deal with a highly motivated, super aggressive and superbly trained Shane Mosley that night.

In other words, he was there for the taking... and he got took. :dead

I would'nt say Shane is shot by any means, but Mayweather will present something so completely different from his last fight with Cheato, the comparison is almost irrelevant.

True, but Shane is nearly forty years old. Floyd could have made this fight happen sooner and received the plaudits for beating a closer-to-prime Mosley.

Shane has stamina and he never stops looking to get in a good shot no matter how the fight is going. He is always a threat.
