watch the Povetkin v Byrd fight closely, Povetkin is a better fighter than any other heavyweight outside of Vladimir, he would thrash Ibragimov and Chagaev.. He is too quick handed and deceptive for Samuel Peter and if given a good stern test like his supposed Chambers or Calvin fight plus another good tune up , he will be very good competition for Klitschko.. I truly beleive he has so much self beleif that he wont be deterred , who knows , He catches Wlad in a hard fought chess match he may be the guy we have been waiting for..

A very good solid heavyweight .. reminds me of a young hungry better composed Golota

Better composed is a huge understatement, if you're talking about his head. I always thought Povetkin's biggest strength was his mental power. One has to be extremely confident in himself to rise up the ranks so quickly like he is. In the ring, he has looked very comfortable since his first fight. It's rare to see a young pro so relaxed when he's taking such big steps up. Even when he got headbutted on Saturday, Byrd started complaining and was bothered while Povetkin didn't even react to it, even though he was the one who was bleeding.

povetkin is already a very good hw and will be a mainstay for years. i think he would give wlad his toughest fight (provided he's got a solid beard) even now which is remarkable for someone only 14-0. i wish he would just go the wba route right now so he can get some more experience. i really want to see his chin tested against brock. he is now my third favorite hw:

1- The Great Bearded Warrior :D
    2-Wald
    3-Povetkin

I am glad you recognize the greatness of Puerto Rico's proudest fighter, but you will pay dearly in the future if you make an avatar bet for a year and pick Klitschko over Povetkin.

I saw about 12 minutes of so of the Byrd fight. Byrd was in shape, and quick. Povetkin did better vs Byrd than anyone else did in the 2000's except for Klitschko. It is not easy to hit a slick south paw ( Bryd ) with a hook, which is Povetkin's money punch. Instead, Povetkin ripped in some nice body shots, and right hands. He fought smartly, and in the end got a late stoppage. I don't think it was Povetkin's best effort, but he passed a big test.

As for who is better between Chagaev, Ibragimov or Povetkin, it is debatable. I honestly beleive it might be a rock- paper- scissors scnerio between the three! Ponder this.

I think Povetkin is better than Chagaev, but style wise this fight is a war, and Chagaev hits a bit harder. Maybe Chagaev wins.

Perhaps Ibragimov's speed and mobility is enough to defeat a slower footed and shorter armed Chagaev on points.

I do think Povetkin's skills would eventually catch up to Ibragimov.

Each man might win one and lose one in a round robin.

As for Povetkin vs Klitschko, right now I'd favor Wlad, but I give Povetkin a real chance for the upset....espeically if Wlad doesn't get him out of there and lets Povetkin hang around until the later rounds.

I believe that Golota (at age 40) would school Povetkin.

Golota took a lot of shots from McBride...Povetkin would kill GOlota at this point.

Yes, he traded with McBride and that may not have been the best thing to do. Once he shook off some of the ring rust he looked like the old Golota.

Of Golota? That slow Pole has never played in Povetkin's league.

I would favour Povetkin over both Ibragimov and Chagaev, but Chagaev for sure has a puncher's chance against Povetkin.

Golota sucks ass. Povetkin does not.
