Props to Brook, UK definitely making some waves


Thought we had the next Mosley on our hands, before I got a chance to watch his Gomez/Diaz fights, but then had some big questions going into tonight. Still favored him because he has a deeper resume, but knew that if Brook’s good balance and really good jab translated to Porter he could have the bigger upside. He proved it tonight, he really dominated Porter. Landed the far cleaner punches, and even buzzed Porter a few times who has a great chin. People are complaining a lot about Brook’s clinches (and I understand), but Brook really had no choice. When Porter just comes straight in with no abandon, as small and as muscular as he is you really have no other choice. Great performance by Brook tonight, UK keeps performing. Really like Porter dude is a good fighter and really handles himself well but he just doesn’t have a great offensive arsenal at all. He look dramatically lost at times tonight.

Would love, LOVE to see Khan vs. Brook. I also really get the sentiment/dislike for Khan, and Brook has really sharp punching. That being said Brook isn’t perfect as some of his other fights show. Khan has a terrible terrible chin, but dude has elite elite hand speed and generates some good leverage. Boring or not he really gave it to Collazo, and has showed he can get the job done against some of the high tier guys. Khan could certainly win that fight if Brook kinda lulls and doesn’t punch enough. Right now I’d have Khan vs. Brook 50-50.

As far as Marquez goes, and some people here saying Brook pulls a Bradley performance against Juan… slow down. Bradley is a top fighter in the world, and I think he beat an overrated Porter tonight. I don’t doubt he can have a good fight, but Marquez is a much better fighter with extreme explosion in those hands.

Excited to see Brook some more, tons of depth at 147!
