Unlike track and field, boxing has regressed in technique and effectiveness because the circumstances today are so much different than back in Robinsons day. There were more boxers, fighters fought more often, and there were only 8 weight divisions and one champ per division.Guys like Mayweather might not find themselves so dominate in the days past.

So many people on here seem to think the sport has progressed in terms of technique. It hasn't.

You just got to love Robinson's footwork.

And you're judging an entire boxing era based on one SRR, a boxing genius in his time yet atypical, clip?

Play a Mayorga clip in contrast and you'll find someone to say that boxing has regressed with the years. :-(

What "what"? You select one clip and based on that one selection, you draw conclusions about two boxing eras. Do you really believe Sugar Ray Robinson's boxing style is representative of his boxing era? Come on!
