That's an understatement. I don't think i've ever seen Lampley so biased.

I'm sure people will tell you that they are never persuaded by the commentators but it's inevitable to some extent.

Stop with all the bull**** about watching the fight without the volume!:patsch If you are an unbiased fan....a FAN OF BOXING! Then the commentators won't have any bearings over how you score a fight. And this fight was hella close! It's a fight that could have gone either way and it all depends on how you like your fights. Sergio inflicted more damage and landed cleaner punches but Paul outworked Sergio.

If you are asking me? No!

I'm just as big a fan as WWM but we approach the ESB forums differently!

I had williams winning by 2 rounds Martinez gave the fight to williams by Not working hard in rounds 11 and 12.

This fight was on its way to being a classic until round 6 were martinez got tired and his out put slowed then it was all williams rounds almost

Thought it was pretty clear to Martinez. He landed several clean hard shots while Paul didn't land too much of note.

Also don't understand how people are giving the first round to Williams. Martinez squared him up beautifully on the chin and Williams was stopped in his tracks before staggering to the canvas, that shot had to win the round. The knockdown of Martinez was more to do with balance than Williams punch, punch itself only lightly grazed the top of his head.

I'll just keep repeating it: Martinez did NOTHING in the first minute of Round 11 but repeatedly get nailed while trying to reach Williams' body. He clutched and grabbed (again, doing nothing) for the next 30 seconds. For the last half of the round, he traded, with Williams landing just as many (if not more) clean, hard hooks in those exchanges as Martinez did. Plus Williams kept the jab on him the entire round.

Other than Lampley's wailing, there's no way that round goes to Martinez.

I scored rounds 1-3 Martinez (yes gave him the 1st round because his knockdown was much better.
Rounds 4,5,6,7 clearly belonged to Williams as he got into his rhythm a bit and Martinez was not landing at much
Round 8 went to martinez who came back strong
Round 9 Williams (close round either way)
Round 10 Martinez (close round either way)
Round 11 Williams threw more shots and landed more power shots per compubox
Round 12 Pretty much even and they clinched and did alot of hold and hitting

So I had Williams by one round.

Jim Lampley and Max were ALL OVER martinez's nuts though. Martinez would land a good left hand and both would cream their pants and then right after Williams would land a 3-4 punch combo and you wouldn't hear anything. Paul Williams outworked Martinez and even though martinez landed some good shots he look too tired at the end. In a rematch Williams would probably box instead of brawl and get the easy win

Williams won if you score pitty pat. Turn the sound up and listen to Martinez' shots. Then you'll know he won. :yep

forget the commentary and the 119-110 scorecard. the fight could have went either way. no robbery. only a rematch will settle it.

The best I could give for Williams is a draw, and that is giving an awful lot of very close rounds in which I often saw Martinez landing harder and better to Williams. Paul Williams only wins if you are ultra-generous to him, in a fashion simply dismissing that he missed a LOT of his punches. The default decision in this fight was, when both land equally, the round goes to Williams. I would not call that a "fair" decision.
