Funny...in the post fight press conference, Paulie called himself white when someone made a comment about the marks on his face.
After reading this I must contest your statement of sobriety. I think you are still drunk and getting drunker by the minute. Broner was lighting Paulie's ass up with hooks straight rights and uppercuts. He threw over 300 less punches than Paulie and landed about thirty more and there was no pitty pat involved. Every time Broner would shake him up ole Paulie would get real animated and do some real clown ****. I gotta give him credit, he fooled Broner with that junk. By the way Broner landed 50% of his shots.:bbb
Agreed, but I think Paulie also punched himself out trying to be significantly more active then Broner knowing that he couldn't hurt Broner. Long story short, it worked for the first 4 rounds, but didn't work for the last 8 because he got tired and a little punch drunk. Meaning, he had the energy in the early rounds to win the rounds convincingly, except round 3 which was closer. but then he started getting tired, while Broner was as fresh as a cucumber since he wasn't expanding all that energy. Paulie was attempting to win a decision via volume from the beginning, and Paulie was never really known for being a volume puncher. So he was a little out of his element and it showed in the late rounds. Paulie's body language was not good in the 2nd half of the fight. His knees didn't exactly buckle, but he was off balance many times and essentially trying to out volume someone while fighting off their backfoot which isn't all that effective.
Paulie punched Broner in the arms like 5-6 times. Then Broner would catch him clean twice in response. Happened consistently throughout the fight. Any rounds Paulie won were based on volume versus not throwing. I didn't score it but overall feeling was like 7-5 Broner.
Play it back on slo-mo, y, i'm sure you could video-clip several of Paulie's bulls-eye mid-section combos. Ya rarely see it done better on a heavy bag. Because they didn't affect Broner doesn't mean they shouldn't be scored.
Paulie actually landed a few very nice jabs thay snap broners head back a few times..i habe no problem with broner winning but he wasnt impressive in doing it...looked average really.
it was a good fight I scored it a draw watching it through but there were only 4 rounds that were clear paulie rounds and 6 that were clear broner rounds. 115-113 broner is fine, 116-112 broner is also not terrible. 114-114 was the most you could give to paulie ever. so broner won fairly 117-111 is a tad bit wide considering how that judge scored the fight, but it wasn't criminal wide.
I agree with your post but Paulie landed far more than you're giving him credit for...especially to the body.
