Watched De la Hoya-Sturm for the first time

You gotta remember that Hoya was just coming off a controversial loss to Mosley II. If the fight was even somewhat close, Hoya was going to get the nod. I had it 115-113 Sturm. I can easily see 116-112 Sturm as well.

 

There's no ****ing way that anyone can say that DLH won that fight. **** - even a Draw is Bad.

Sturm won that fight without a question.

 

How did this workrate manifest itself if it wasn't in actually hitting his oppenent or throwing punches?

Was DLH doing interviews between rounds, serving refreshments to ringside fans, or maybe filling in the judges scorecards for them? :?

 

But you said that DLH won on workrate when Sturm threw and landed more punches?

 

I had 116-112 for Sturm, possibly 115-113.

 

I had it for 7-5 Sturm, at worst. No way Oscar won that fight. He clearly got outboxed, outworked, and out smarted. I was definitely more impressed with the way Sturm handled Oscar than I was with Mayweather, regardless of the so called scorecards.

 

Sturm may have thrown arm-punches all night long (which he does in every fight BTW), but he was snapping DLH's head back all the time, like someone else mentioned. On the other hand, when did you see any DLH punch make Sturm move even an inch?
Bottom line: he was facing an excellent technician who he couldn't outbox that night, and who was too big naturally for him to outfight.

 

Even my brothers in law who are Mexicans and DLH fans thought Sturm won the fight.

Yeah, I watched it.. Felix is a good fighter... I knew he would give Oscar some problems.. the thing is... I thought if Felix pushed the issue a little bit he may have came out on top . but I did give Oscar the fight. he landed some great bodyshots.. I think Felix's corner should have urged him on more....If Sturm would have pushed the issue a little more.. who knows?.. I gave the fight to Oscar by a little bit because of the bodyshots early, and the combination.. Sturm was too happy landing one punch at a time... his corner should have urged him to put it together more.. I feel Oscar needs to be in better shape though.. he looked a little heavy, and a little soft.. He will have to be in much better shape to fight Hopkins.. Hopkins is a true Middleweight.. one thing about Delahoya.. he fights all the toughest out there.. I have to give him that... but, something is missing in Oscars game.. he should not be fading in the last 4 rounds... something needs to change for him.. I am not sure what it is..but something needs to change... maybe the high altitude training...??.. not sure.. but something needs to change for Oscar..

Strum won that fight easy. It was a disgrace that he didnt get the nod, :-(.

 

where are all the people who said DLH won? i recall on these boards after the fight so many DLH fan boyz said he won a close fight
