watched Duran v. Leonard and they mentioned each corner had smelling salts...

I honestly believe there were smelling salts, steroid usage that no one really questioned/VERY easy to cheat the tests, which makes the likes of Duran and Leonard and all of the greats from those particular ages look favourably against the greats of the 2000's i.e Mayweather.

It clearly isn't fair. Smelling salts all the time = more conscious, more awake/revived.

Those things don't alter your physical energy just help you in your own ability to see due to preventing swelling. The leather gloves would literally shred peoples faces up horrifically if their faces were dry.


Imagine the worst physical beatings you could ever imagine, but then picture that fighter had he not been able to put vaseline on his face nor eyes his eyes. Give me a break with your response to the previous poster.

Its the same reason gatorade or any other carbohydrate and electrolyte drink is not allowed. Water is because it hydrates you but does not fuel your metabolism the way sugar could.

 

When i say Vaseline I mean in regards to cuts... why should one corner with a shitty cut man lose to another with a superb one?...if a fighter has delicate skin shouldn't that be solely his fault?...Im just wondering when should the line be drawn? not saying your wrong or right just bringing up the discussion

 

Those type of things that your mentioning do not take away or alter the course of a fight. There are other variables in play in boxing that are more significant than those smaller issues. Such as glove types. Fighters can choose to use reyes or grant or everlast... etc, all with different cushion types that have slightly different impact on the hit. Also there are different methods to wrap fighters hands, each wrap man has their own little finger print on the job. Those things also make an impact. Putting vaseline is something that prevents the fight to look like an execution. Whether they have good cut mans or not doesn't really make fights uneven.
