Golota actually didnt look as bad as i remembered, even though he had a hard time with Kevin. He looked better than he did against Bates, at least. But he's gotta get more loose in the ring.
Once he relaxed in there and let his hands go, he got better quickly and McBride was unable to do much about it. But that first round stiffness still persists. At least he was firing back in turn while McBride was clocking him in the first, though, not just taking unanswered shots. He didn't go into a shell. But he was far too open and awkward and a better fighter will punish him hard for that. Mollo is a bad style match-up, if Golota beats him then that's a decent result for this late in his career. If only Golota had his pre-crash jab back, though...
To me he looked slow and completely stiff. He still has zero defence, and he took quite a bit of damage from a fighter who I would be hard pressed to rate as anything better than C-. As was mentioned before, he did atleast fight back when he was in trouble which is rare from him. Still, I don't see him getting past anyone with decent speed and power.
in Golota's prime McBride never would have been able to land so many punches. I will say this, those two big guys did throw a lot of punches. IT was a fun fight to watch. id go as far as to say mcbride would have won if he was in any kind of shape. too bad i think Golota is done.
