Well this fight seems to get more threads than other on this site (sorry) so I thought I would watch it, I got into boxing after this fight so never saw it.

I was expecting to see Lewis losing every round and or being humiliated by Klitschko (judging by some of the comments). But that wasn't the case, sure he was behind, but I gave him 2 of the 6 rounds, so not an insurmountable deficit.

Vitali was brave but that has to be some of the worst cuts I have seen, it really couldn't and shouldn't have continued. I just don't see how he could have fought effectively for the remainder of the bout as those terrible cuts would have got worse. They could have rematched, but would the same happen again? Most likely.

Both brave and tough guys though who went at it hard.

No doubt about it, Lewis would of TKO'd Vitali in the 7th.

    Who knows??

I just know it would have been messy. Nasty cuts that would only get worse.

The fact is that Lewis injured Vitali so badly that the doctor had to intervene. I thought that was the idea of boxing, to make it impossible for the opponent to continue. Vitali just happened to have a disgusting open wound on his face. The idiots who say it should not of been stopped would probably have seen him blinded. Good one.

Lewis was probably better than Vitali but where is Lewis now? Retired. While Vitali is the WBC champion and not looking like slowing down whatsoever.

Lewis didn't win one round. Just a miraculous thumb cut kept him from getting KO'ed.

The two best HWs of that time with Lewis having the edge because of cuts. Vitali was leading on the cards but Lewis won the fight.

One cut from one punch could be construed as being lucky, which does happen in boxing. But 2 bad cuts from repeated right hands over several rounds signifies a cause and effect scenario. Lewis was able to land his right hand over and over again which caused the fight to be stopped, luck had nothing to do with it.
