It is just you. Cotto and Margo are NOT intelligent fighters. They are both stalker/brawlers. They were both effective at what the did though. Mayweather is a pure counter puncher. The more Pac goes after him? The more he will get hit. Unless Pac has enough to absorb all the punishment and THEN do more? He will get beaten. On the flipside, if Mayweather cannot continue to steadily make Pac pay regardless of the pace of the fight AND pepper Pac with jabs during lulls? Mayweather will lose. I see Mayweather by WIDE decision if Pac doesn't bank the first 3-6 rounds.
Pac is going to finish the game plan De La Hoya had against Floyd. Pac won't gas like Oscar. He's going to throw many more punches with greater speed and angles than Oscar threw. His footwork will get him into better position than Oscar. Your post is based on the premise that Pac is going to employ the same tactic to Floyd that he did against Cotto. Do you really think they are that stupid? Roach and Pac study every opponent and tweek their game plan according to each opponent. You don't become P4P #1 in the world going into a fight with the same plan everytime.
I pick Floyd but it's going to be competitive. Pac's faster feet, comparable hand speed, power and south paw stance are just some of the factors that Floyd will have to overcome. Nonetheless, I still think Pac is a sucker for a well placed counter over hand right and Floyd is currently the best exponent of that punch in boxing. Floyd's ring general ship is also on a another level to any other active fighter (besides maybe Bhop). So I give Floyd the edge but not by much.
See how "theoretical" this *****s are. On fight night, Mayweather will show something he hasn't shown for a while. At the same time Pac will somehow not pull something he consistently shown for a while.
It was Cotto. Cotto is nowhere near the level of Mayweather. Hell Cotto isn't crafty or known for his "twitch". Baiting him in is no feat. :blood How were Pac's "feints" against Marquez? :think Even then, Marquez isn't known for speed. :bart
You mean "theoretical" as in pointing out the decreased punch volume of EVERY fighter Mayweather faces? :think :blood
you know marquez will not counter with a single shot right? it will always be 2 to 4 shots every time that's why it was so exciting to watch. :good
You can't just compare 2 fights with diff. opponent but i think Pacquiao has a chance to beat Mayweather.
Pac was one handed one dimensional when they fought. Pac didn't know how to use his right. He only knew one direction and that is to go straight in to Marquez counterpunching style. Pac is a different fighter now. He uses angles and his right hook is getting better and better each time he fights. He was able to counter Margarito's jab with his right hook now I am not going to compare Margarito's Jab with Floyd's but Pac is getting better and better each time. According to Roger Mayweather, he will use Cotto as a measurement on how Pac will be able to deal with Floyd.
I see it as 60/40 for Floyd. He's undefeated, still fast, still recovers well, still has the best defence in the world, still does pretty much everything that makes him so good. The only difference is that he doesn't move around the ring as much as he used to do, but I'm not sure if that's due to his choice, or because his legs are fading. It could be interesting if it's the latter, but we have no way of knowing at this point. A lot also depends on how Floyd chooses to fight Pac. Will he go backwards and pot-shot, or will he come forward with the shell guard, like he did with Zab? I remember Roger Mayweather saying (about Zab, in the corner): 'He can't fight going backwards'. I wonder if they think the same thing about Pacman. I think Floyd would be better served by boxing off the back foot, and making it a countering match, employing the jab and body punches more than ever before. Every time he feels his back touch the ropes, he needs to sidestep and get out of there rather than trying his rolling routine. Pac, on the other hand, needs to work at cutting off the ring. He also needs to do most of his work when Floyd is at the ropes -- if Floyd tries to roll the shots, he'll have a nasty surprise at Pac's speed and combinations. Much sharper and far more potent than a faded Hoya. Pac's left-straight will also be critical in this bout, because if Judah can hit Floyd with it multiple times, Pac will really go to work. I favour Floyd to win, but I just cannot see him dominating, and I wouldn't be surprised if Pac really does beat him. Such a great potential bout.
That is because Marquez does not have reach, speed, or extraordinary pop. Mayweather will shoot a fast shot in there *!ZAP!* and move his feet. Pac won't be the first fighter to see his Compubox numbers go to crap. You don't see what is exciting about Mayweather because YDKSAB. :hey
