    I actually watched it again the night before Pacquiao-Hatton and just happened to write down my scores. The first time round I had Marquez by 3 points, this time;

    Round 1 Even 10-10
    Round 2 Pac 10-9, 20-19
    Round 3 Pac 10-8, 30-27
    Round 4 Mar 9-10, 39-37
    Round 5 Mar 9-10, 48-47
    Round 6 Mar 9-10, 57-57
    Round 7 Even 10-10, 67-67
    Round 8 Mar 9-10, 76-77
    Round 9 Pac 10-9, 86-86
    Round 10 Pac 10-9, 96-95
    Round 11 Mar 9-10, 105-105
    Round 12 Mar 9-10, 114-115

So Marquez by a point, with 2 rounds even. For the record I hate giving even rounds and while originally I had Marquez a clear winner, I can see on reflection how you could give it to either guy, depending on how you score the even rounds. I notice some of my scoring is off from the op as well.

Wish they had had an immediate rematch though.

Didn't Marquez stun Manny at the end of the second round? I have to watch the fight again, but I thought that was a Marquez round.

I am wantching the fight right now, I have just watched the first 2 rounds, and I have round 1 for pac but I dont see how you came up with the 2nd round draw, at the beginning marquez starts good, winning the round then pac tries to make a comeback and you could say is maybe tie but at the end jmm clearly steals the round I dont know how you came up with a draw...

At the end of the day its all subjective isn't it? We interpret the fight our own ways. A few of the rounds were incredibly tight, it depends if your score on the volume of punches or the heavier shots.

We should be glad we were able to witness a back and forth fight that we'll probably still be debating in twenty years time.

with the knockdown in the 3rd and the knockdown although not called by the ref because jmm held on to the ropes, it is clear to see why judges scored the fight for pac.
it should have been two knockdowns in reality.

and justly so. pac won the fight. jmm really had some great rounds but then again, without sounding repetitive. 2 points i want to stress.

    1. aggression is always rewarded in contact sports.

    2. in order to win close fights, make sure you keep your feet planted firmly on the ring.

Aren't you glad that we live in a time where there are two exciting fighters in Pac and Marq? They aptly ranked #1 and 2. In my book, if Marq defeats Floyd, he could share #1 position w/ Pac.

That should be effective aggression. No use charging in if your getting countered every time.

    Ask Ricky.

The second point is off. The fight was close BECAUSE of the knockdown, although JMM still clearly won. Had there been no KD, then it would have been a victory for Marquez hands down. Had pac still won then it would have been a robbery. Hopefully there will be a definitive winner if they ever fight again, but I doubt it.

Marq evened up the score by taking round 2. It is cummulative draw after the 2nd round.

Effective controlled aggression, to be accurate about it.

you might have misunderstood the context of this. clearly if you are agressive but being boxed silly there is no question of possible even scores.

just like in tae kwando, mma, the more aggressive fighter is typically awarded the match if the points are even or the judges think both fighters have scored evenly.

awarding it to the more aggressive fighter is a reward for him taking on more chances rather than just wait or backtrack all the time like counterpunchers. do.
