Man that might be one of the finest displays of skill I have ever seen

    Anyone else agree?

    Where do these two rate?

You won't find a more skilful and gutsy fifteen rounder on film. Both men were superb with the naturally bigger man edging it though it's very close. On that form they would have given anyone you care to name (around the same weight) all they could handle.

A perfect example of how good guys from that era can be. A great fight as well.

We must remember that exactly 2 years after Canzoneri decisioned the great Kid Chocolate in 1931, Canzi knocked him out in TWO rounds in 1933.
When reporters asked Canzoneri "how could you ko a man who had such a small target as a thin little neck atop a thin body " ?. Canzoneri replied " I hit him on the small jaw ontop of a thin body ". Concise and to the point was the great Tony Canzoneri.
P.S. What a marvelous array of small men we had in the 1930s, such as Henry Armstrong, Barney Ross, Tony Canzoneri, Kid Chocalate, Jimmy McLarnin, Lou Ambers, Billy Petrolle...WOW...And fighting 15 round fights
often and against the very best...

Indeed, Burt. And the concrete proof of it being a special era was the fact reporters said so at the time.

Such a great fight. The guys are continually experimenting and adapting to each other, the mental stamina is as impressive as the physical stamina. These guys came with a plan G.

Helps dismiss the myth that fighters only started to look competitive in the late 40's - early 50's .. Tony cut his teeth in the 20's ...

That being said a terrific fight ..

, I sure did omit Jackie Kid Berg...He fought everyone, everywhere...But by the time of 1930 Kid Berg already had about 90 bouts, fighting bi-weekly. He certainly burnt himself out at an early age. No one was braver than Kid Berg. You can watch him on youtube in "This is Your Life"...Kid Berg was great but the man who proceeded him Ted Kid Lewis was greater...cheers...

Kid lewis was amazing possibly best English fighter of all-time . Berg was even as an old man at the time of the this is your life show was still a very hyperactive man for his age I don't think he could of lived any part of his life at normal speed . He certainly burnt out boxing wise early in years but he crammed a lot in

One of the best, skilled bouts ever. Hard to get past the quality of the footage at first though.
Wish BHOF would upload the full high quality version they (might) have.

    Canzonari vs. Bummy Davis
I think Bummy Davis gives him the beating of his life.
