Watching some of the boxing skill that Archie had on exibit vs Slade along with his fast reflexes and power and defense....I have to rate him #1 ATG @ that weight....I know there is an arguement for Charles but Ezzard did not park himself at 175 like Archie did. I could not put a Roy Jones or a Spinks next to him overall....Billy Conn was another top 5 but Archie takes the top spot.....Who else do you see being top 5....Tunney was another one like Charles that could have been a great lgthvy but made his mark at heavy

Archie is reasonable at #1 though my choice is Charles. The question is, what do you do with Langford at this weight? He's possibly the greatest there ever was and this was possibly his best weight. Where should he rank?

I'd put Charles at #1, followed closely by Moore, Spinks and Langford. I think Tunney, Foster and Jones are a bit "second tier" compared to those, despite obviously being great light heavyweights. Harold Johnson and Tommy Loughran would be closely behind them. A somewhat green held Tunney to a close fight, no rematch. :(

Charlers beat him three times, including a stoppage, and he "parked himself" at the weight just as much as Moore did, with a secondary resume at least equal to Moore's outside of the 3 huge wins he held over him.

people dont realize how close the 3 fights were.....the series could have easily ended up 2-1 in moores favor. it was that close.

First fight was a wide decision for Charles, who scored a knockdown along the way.

Second fight was close decision for Charles, but there weren't any obvious cries of robbery-and Charles did score the only kd in the fight.

Thid fight was a stoppage in a fight where both fighters had their moments..but a fight in which Charles was winning on the cards going into the fateful eighth.

So, it seems that, during that time, Charles was indeed the better fighter than Moore.

    No BS,

Many believe Moore was robbed in the 2nd fight. it appears he at least deserved a draw..

the 3rd fight, according to a huge charles supporter I know who was live at the scene ......Archie Moore was ahead on points and had charles all but knocked out in the 8th.....before charles scored a corrales-castillo heroic Kayo

The 2nd and 3rd fights with a bit better luck could have gone to moore
