I seem to remember that fight was entertaining. Bika was awkward and Calzaghe obliged him in a bit of a scruffy brawl from what I recall. Calzaghe's fight with Byron Mitchell was entertaining too. The domination of Jeff Lacy was breathtaking. Fights with David Starie, Bernard Hopkins and a lot of others were pretty dull though.
Calzaghe was no Gatti or Boza-Edwards, but on the whole he was a pretty good value-for-money fighter and was in some entertaining bouts. His willingness to open up in close exchanges, take shots to land his own and put together shots in combinations meant that he could put on a good show. He was also vulnerable to getting decked early doors, which added to that. The Eubank, Reid, Mitchell, Lacy and Kessler fights were all worthy of revisiting.
