Considering he himself admitted he didn't know where he was after the punch that rocked him, that's laughable. But for fun, let's do a round by round break down.

FWIW I re-scored this one last night and came out with this:

    1: SRL
    2: Duran by a longshot
    3: Duran by a longshot
    4: Duran by a longshot
    5: SRL
    6: SRL
    7: Duran
    8: Duran
    9: Duran
    10: Duran
    11: SRL
    12: Duran
    13: SRL
    14: Duran
    15: SRL

A lot of rounds could have been even but I don't like to do that unless I have to. SRL had 1 very clear round and Duran had 3 or 4.

    9-6 Duran

Exactly. But when you read these posts of the first SRL/Duran fight, you'd think the Leonard of that night was the respected, already-forged-in-fire ATG with zero question marks in the public mind he is today.

An ATG like Hearns breaks his hand and reportedly felt 'weakened' from a leg massage in the Hagler fight, but even the most diehard Hearns fan take nothing from Hagler. But with Duran, he can't just have lost. No sir, every single 'disadvantage' he entered the ring under is shouted from the rooftops, while at the same time not extending the same courtesy to any of his opponents, who were simply destroyed by his greatness.

    It's hilarious.

1st round Duran was stalking Leonard and Leonard was backing up most of the round, clear round for Duran.

2nd round, Duran is charging in somewhat reckless but he's definating intiating the action, at 1:25 Duran land a shot that really hurts Leonard. Leonard on the ropes fighting for survival, Leonard is holding on so hard the ref can't break them up Another right hand hurts Leonard. Leonard fights back with the announcer saying Duran has established himself. Big round for Duran.

Announcers are talking about the only mistake SRL made was sign for the fight.

Third round. Leonard is reacting to Duran's feints and he's flinching. Duran has him on the ropes and is throwing body punches. Announcers are staying he's gonna get his ribs broken if he doesn't move. Leaonard taking big shots and was hurt about 1/2 in the round. After 2 mintues Duran clearly dominated the round. Pacheco says punches landed are about 10-1 for Duran. Pacheco saying SRL has to move. Both flurry at near the end of the third. Another clear, maybe even a big round, for Duran.

4th round Leonard starts of using the left and moving, they're in the middle of the ring. SRL throwing jabs, but they aren't hitting him as he 's too far away. Duran charges at him. SRL hit on the break, gets hit with a big right hand, SRL is holding on and it was against the ropes but now is in the centre, with Duran bulling him into the ropes again. Pacheco says Ray is getting his ribs caved in. they are slugging toe to toe at the end of the round, though round to score. Duran had control of most of the action, but my have got hurt in the last few seconds, and he did hurt Ray in the middle of the round. Close round for Duran.

5th round. Announcers are talking about how great the fight is so far. SRL hits Duran with a big left at the start of the round. Lots of infighting in the middle of the ring. Duran backs him up against the ropes less than a minute left. both landing short chopping punches. Ray flurries to the body, Duran digs to the body. SRL hurt Duran and is flurring off the ropes. Duran misses a right hand that would have ended it. Very close round, slight edge to SRL.

4 rounds to 1 for Duran.

Pacheco says it's a close fight, but if you round by round, it really isn't.

Round 6 Duran's strategy is to back SRL up against the ropes and wail away to the body. They exchange shots again against the ropes. They are both digging to the body. They're exchanging big blows. Pacheco is praising both fighters. Close round, slight edge to SRL.

    This is trench war fare.

7th round. Duran hard shot to the body. They're exchanging hard punches back and forth, Duran had SRL up against the ropes then SRL has Duran up against the ropes. Duran again has SRL against the ropes. Beautiful hook by Duran, they're wondering what's keeping SRL up as he took a vicious hook and fights back. This round could go either way. Not sure who won that round. Scored it even.

after 7 rounds I have it 4-2-1 for Duran, athough an argument could be made for 5-1-1 as the 6th round was close, as was the 7th.

8th round - Slowest round so far and another close round. SRL is taking Duran's best shots which would have KO's a lightweight. SRL showing great chin. Shoots a couple of flurries at the end of the round, which are hard to score because they're quick but don't have the one punch power of the shorts Duran is landing. Round to SRL.

9th. They're in the centre of the ring, Duran backing him to the ropes Pacheco says Duran is winning the round and I agree. 19 seconds left. They exchange vicious shots at the end of the round. Clear round for Duran.

in between rounds they're talking about SRL's eye.

Round 10 Good right hand by Duran. SRL on his toes starts boxing. Duran gets hit hard with a hook but smiles. Duran looked at the announcers and smiled at them, lands overhand right on SRL. Good hook by SRL. Great upper cut by Duran. Has SRL on the ropes briefly. Hard round to call, but SRL may have won with a combo at the end of the round.

    Score 6-3-1 Duran

Round 11. SRL takes a low blow. Exchanging vicious blows at about the 30 sec mark. They are in the middle of the ring, SRL landing with his hand speed and Duran comes back and hurts SRL, and fights back. They are exchanging blows again, SRL threw a wide punch. SRL up against the ropes they are both exhausted. SRL throwing a flurry of punches at the end of the round. another hard round to score, might give the end to SRL.

Pacheco has Duran ahead but comments that he's never seen Duran run out of steam as he seems to be slowing down.

Round 12 - both in the middle of the ring, not much punching going on but Duran the busier of the two. Duran getting second win. SRL lands great punch but Duran is still stalking SRL. Duran has SRL pinned against the ropes at the end of the round. Duran slight end in the round.

7-4-1 Duran but the announcers have it closer. Duran lands huge punch and backs SRL into the ropes. Duran has him against the ropes again. Both throw clean hard right hands which would have dropped most fighters. Duran lands big right and fights back. Both have great great chins with Duran getting hurt at the end. What a round.

    Score so far 7-5-1

Round 14 Duran hurt after the 30 second mark, big hook by Duran. SRL looks very tired. SRL swing and missing. Duran winning round but not much happening until near the end when Duran lands a huge punch, but SRL responds with combos. It's leonard's combo's against Duran's one shot power. SRL lands bolo punch. Round to Duran.

Announcers say the fight is dead even. I have it 8-5-1

Round 15. Duran has SRL back to the ropes but isn't throwing much. Duran again landing one punch while SRL flurries to the body. Duran is pushing SRL up against the ropes but SRL landing more. Less than a minute left and SRL is winning the round. Duran isn't throwing much at all and gives way the 15th round.

    Score 8-6-1 Duran

Hell of a good fight. I'd say it was a close but clear victory for Duran, largely due to the early rounds, which in my mind clearly went to Duran. Most amazing part of the fight is that neither fighter went down.

    It was a brutal fight.

One thing for sure is that Duran had to know there was a rematch waiting to happen so it was on him to stay in shape until after it occurred.

I watched it just a 1/2 ago and that's not far off from my score so I don't know WTF you're talking about.

If you got a different score, bring it.

It matters not. I just wonder if some generations ever learned how to watch a fight or even box for that matter...?

Why don't you stop talking and provide detail information on a round by round basis as to what you think the score is. Then we'll find out who can and can't score a fight.

Somehow I think you're going to duck out of this cause that's just who you are.
