I am tempted by the cheap prices offered by Primetime for the Dirrell/Abraham fight. Before I part with my pennies (and even more importantly, forgo my beauty sleep) - What was the quality of the stream from Primetime on their other recent fights??
Excellent. As good as any stream I've seen. Ideally you want to plug an ethernet cable directly between your router and the machine on which you're viewing; if you get lag, it's most likely your wireless that's at fault.
Watched the Froch fight on it. I know other people had nightmares with the stream, but mine was quality.
My stream for Froch - Dirrell was OK, but did start freezing / buffering toward the end of the fight. Obviously annoyingly. I was using a wireless connection and perhaps this affected the connection as somebody has mentioned. I thought this fight was available for Virgin Subscribers, but I just checked and no...
Watched the Froch fight online. The quality of the picture was good, but I voted Moderate. The reaon was that it buffered/lost connection several times during the fight. Not a big deal really, but if I'd have missed say a KO or knockdown, then I'd have been pissed right off. One thing that annoyed me was that when it finished buffering it returned to the live feed. On some other streams, like Sky Player, it puts the feed on pause and then continues where it lost connection. Sure you become a little behind live, but it's much better than missing some of the action. EDIT: I should also say that I was using a wired 20Mb connection.
What I'd take into account is.... a) Last time, Primetime ended up showing Froch on TV for free. b) the illegal streams are very good for primetime, not that I'd advocate using one of those obviously...
At £5.95 the price is about right to go 'legal', us fans have got to give at least something back....but I can see why people will go illegal if 'paid' streams are poor quality or poor value (£15+)
Yes, but it was only free at a late stage, nobody knew it would be, and it was only on a Sky channel You can't bank on that happening again at all
I paid for the stream (it's the first time I've ever watched a streamed fight), it buffered every 20 seconds or so, a few of my mates didn't even stay for the main event due to the poor quality. I also found that I couldn't really tell if punches were landing or not as it couldn't keep up with Froch's handspeed. I'm not ruling out the possibility that it was my connection, but it's usually very good. Personally I'm delighted that I can watch this on TV now (due to the no-phoneline technology now in place) and I won't be paying for any streams again. I believe that Abraham-Dirrell is the same price this time for web & TV viewing, so unless you don't have the hardware I see no advantage in the web stream anyway. As a side note I'm really looking forward to this fight as an interesting clash of styles.
Mine was good, i thought. There must have been a lag or something on the Froch-Dirrell fight because i couldn't see Carl's slick boxing skills or the punches landed which won him the fight...Must have been the stream. (Seriously though, the stream was good)
