just watch roy how clever he was in not throwing his straight right at tony. knowing tony was looking for that punch to counter it. tony did not know if jones was going to the body or going to coming with hooks or to throw the straight. jones foot work was awesome.

Fine work. Now all we need is a Welterweight duplicate of Roy Jones.

Toney was weight drained and clinically out of shape, the last time Mayweather faced those conditions was when remind me...Oh yeah, never!

Plus, no current welterwight has even half the skills of Roy

:huh sorry buddy but that seriously doesnt make any sense...Other than the shoulder roll, Toney and Mayweather dont fight nothing alike!

i don't know, watching toney/barkley there are similarities in their countpunching, as the TS noted especially the right hand. mayweather throws it straighter and toney was overhand at times but they both timed their opponents, lured them in with the shoulder roll, and land that right at will.

the problem as has been said, is that there is no roy equivalent at 147. or any weight class

He took away Tony's best weapon but I still think if he wanted to he could have landed as many straight rights as he wanted.

I agree to an extent...Whenever the shoulder didnt work for both...Toney couldnt quite crack the puzzle while Mayweather swithces his stance to a high guard...Maybe I did over state what I said about their fighting styles but, Mayweather has shown to better adapt to his opponent more so than Toney!

i think his left shoulder protects his left side pretty well. i think the straight left is most likely to land as it cuts between the left shoulder and right hand at his face

damn straight:good ****, when montell griffin kicked up his workrate, toney couldn't keep up and lost. they were close but he really doesn't have another plan: if his skills don't work, he loses

that's what I usually tell friends whenever they ask who James Toney is.
