I was only half watching on a stream, but the rounds I saw were pretty hard to score. Valuev was holding centre ring and landing jabs and Holy was moving well and catching him with a couple of hooks. I guess I saw 8 rounds out of the 12 and my first impression was that Holy hadn't done enough to get a decision in Germany.
I thought Holyfield def' edged this one... but ran out of steam as the fight went into the latter stages (as was to be expected). Hate to say it but if this the best that the HW division has to offer then it's fu**ed (I believe the word is moribund). I was rooting for Evander but there is clearly something wrong when a guy of his age can secure a high profile fight like this one. What about sticking Martin Rogan in with him? The big man would just steam in and keep hitting him; might even do the job; or am I just dreaming? Is it the lack of good American heavyweights that's making this division boring? Funny how years ago I was praying for good Europeans to take on the cream of the US HW's. Now we have the boxing-by-numbers automatons. Distance... jab... jab... control centre ring... take no risks... jab... jab... occasional right... jab... [he comes inside... HOLD HOLD HOLD!].... distance... jab... zzzzzzzz.... Sorry, but I hate it!
What I ment is that it was booing from the biginning of the walk-in to the end. Whenever Evander did something the crowd was cheering, whenever Nico did something the crowed was booing. Even IF Valuev had ko´d Holyhield in the first round there would have been booing. So booing can´t be taken as a measurement of how the fight went...
