Way to go Andy, just like Douglas Rahman and Sanders.

Andy did a great job in winning the fight just like Buster Douglas, Hasim Rahman and Corie Sanders did in the past. Now can he win the rematch and how? Can he remain relevant in the div or will he slip into obscurity never winning a meaningful fight again. I think AJ has the tools to beat Andy and for the most part took Andy lightly the first time around. I think AJ made a lot of mistakes that can be improved upon, but Andy fought the best fight he could, except for getting kd in the third, and the rematch will be even harder. Rarely in boxing do the underdogs go on to further success, usually losing the rematch. Examples to the contrary are welcome.

What does Ruiz have to do to win the rematch? I think Anthony boxes his way to a decision win next time round.

Get in better shape. AJ will fight a defensive Wlad like fight. He will have to take the initiative to get inside and get those combos off and therefore he needs to be in better shape to maximize his foot speed.

Will it be enough though? Andy has never been fleet of foot, he's kinda weird, slow feet, fast upper body, and it seemed to me during the fight Andy was having success mid range. Punching with AJ seems to be the way to go cuz Andy will beat him to the punch. What of the wisdom that the extra pounds help to absorb the punishment. Andy ate some hellish shots that maybe if he's lighter, knock him out. I remember hating the fact that Kirk the whale johnson put on extra weight to fight Klitschko, didn't seem to help him a damn bit.

Example of a huge underdog Winning an immediate rematch off the top of my head

    Vernon Forrest v Ricardo mayorca

    Bellew vs haye

Technically you could count ward vs kovalev

    Ali v Liston

    Tyson vs Holyfield

    Holmes v spinks

Price v Thompson (maybe the most relevant for AJ) price was never the same after. Became gun shy, developed anxiety and burnt out because of it. Sound familiar?

A couple of good examples there, but I don't think any on the list were as much of an underdog as Ruiz was vs Joshua, maybe Mayorga. So what category do you think Andy falls into? Is he another Buster Douglas or is he the next Holyfield with a long illustrious career ahead of him? I'm leaning toward the former.

Tyson, Wlad and AJ are on a short list of some of boxings most impressive physical specimens.

How ironic that between the three of them, they have suffered 3 huge upsets to unheralded fighters that, at least with Sanders and Ruiz, were seen as almost humorously out of shape.
