How about a rematch between Hopkins and Glenn Johnson? Then Joe can fight Dawson. Joe will retire. So win or lose, Dawson can fight the winner of Hops-Johnson 2...
Dawson struggled with Johnson then dominated Tarver. Joe struggled with Hopkins, then dominated Jones. I figure that Jones and Tarver will both retire. Either way they are finished as true threats. A Hopkins-Johnson rematch will spark real interest and put the winner first in line.
How about somebody require the light heavy division not turn into the dump for past-their-prime fighters. How many of the division's elite are under 30 anyway? :huh Other than Dawson and Cloud, I can't think of one. I mean, it's cool to know that Hopkins is apparently immortal, but any of the other guys claim that???
Chris Henry, not sure how old he is but he seems young........ Diaconu, how sure how old he is but i get my drift..... not really sure who else is even in that division.... Cedric Agnew is a good up and comer... but he's still a prospect.....
The only way to get rid of them for good is for the top guy(s) to take them on and really beat them up. Is anyone gonna dispute that Tarver and Jones are now finished? Have Hopkins and Johnson fight again so that one of them can eliminate the other. IF it turns out to be a great fight, so much the better. Dawson taking on the winner can end the era once and for all, so long as he wins the way he did against Tarver.
