    Anyone know anything about him?

Finished with a record of 28-18. Only stopped once in those dozen and a half losses, by Liston. BUT managed to go the distance late in his career with Cleveland Williams.

Had a LOT of SD's on his record, including two to Zora Folley.

Best wins seem to be a comfortable points win over an older Ezzard Charles.

    Eh?

I think a win over Ernie Terrell is more impressive than one over an old, shot husk of Ezzard Charles.

Indeed he put Folley down in one of those fights.

I think he retired after one of his opponents, Ernie Cab ? died after
    fighting him.

Good solid journeyman, had Folley down in one of thier fights.

Very good & informative post. Thank you for the correction re Ernie Knox.
The De Piccoli win was a good one as the Italian was tipped for big things.Henry Cooper commented that he found Bethea a really difficult opponent.

I also recall a report many years ago in which Marciano was contemplating a comeback,he had a couple of bouts 'behind closed doors' including one against Bethea. Wayne gave him so much trouble that Marciano abandoned his return plans.

Anyone know if Betehea is still alive ?

Around what years was Marciano considering a comeback?

Who else did he spar with?
