WBA and WBO up for grabs.

Apparently, Campbell still has the WBA belt. Don King looks like he paid off the WBA.

Casamayor - Julio Diaz could also be for a belt, maybe the IBF.

 

Here's whats what. They cant do it for the WBA title (and no, Nate does not still have it), because Nate was the WBA "super champion", and in order to get that "super" designation you must possess more than one of the WBO, WBA regular, IBF, or WBC titles. WBA rules do not recognize the Ring title. And they already have Paulus Moses as the WBA regular champ, and he doesnt have a mandatory due yet, so they couldnt even try for an interim title.

As for the WBO, thats another story. Barerra is indeed the #1 mandatory, however Khan is only #9, and the rules regarding vacant titles call for the top 2 "available" contenders to fight for the vacant belt. Marquez is #2, and Diaz is #3, so im sure Golden Boy will lobby that Barerra is "unavailable", and the #2 Marquez vs. #3 Diaz fight should be for the vacant WBO tite, and they have a pretty good arguement there.

Funny thing for me is that neither Marquez or Diaz gave a squat about wanting those belts when Nate had them, and all you heard was "lineal champ is most important", "ring belt is all that matters", etc., etc., but now that the titles are vacant, they are all over them. lol.

 

Casamayor is not ranked by the IBF, an no vacant IBF title fight should happen without Ali Funeka being in it.

 

I have no problem with this fight being for the WBO. JMM and Diaz are ranked #2 and #3 so that's fine. WBA already has a champ in Paulus Moses, so it can't be for that belt.

 

dont underestimate Nate's punching power. Very few guys at 135 have the pop that Nate does. And what Nate was doing was using the hard body shots and then coming over the left jab with the right hand. It may look like a big bomb, but on the inside like that its a pretty sneaky shot.

I disagree about his ability to move up through all those divisions though, but at 135 or 140 he will be a badass. I would pick him over most at 135, including Casamayor, Julio Diaz, or Katsidis. I think a good fight for him for the vacant title since alot of guys are tied up in that tournament would be with Anthony Peterson or Tony Demarco, the kid that just KO'd Kid Diamond.

Where did that talk came from? That's far from being true and accurate.

WBO has MAB as #1 rated challenger; Marquez is rated # 2 and Diaz is #3. Since JMM/Diaz is already set to happen, this could be an eliminator and winner should fight MAB for the title.

. . . it's impossible to leave out the number #1 rated fighter.

Here . . . it's most likley that Joan Guzman vs Valero will have to fight for the title before anybody else. JMM and JD is rated 5 and 6 respectively so it's impossible also.

Moses is a 30 yrs old fighter from Windhoek, Namibia. He has a 24 (17 KOs) - 0 - 0 fight record. He fought Yusoki Kubori in Japan only last Jan 3, 2009 for the WBA lightweight interim title . . . Nate was the WBA super champ. :yep

 

If the #1 is "unavailable", as Barerra is (signed for Khan (#9) fight, and therefore unavailable to fight #2-#9, they would go to the next 2 highest rated contenders, which happen to be Marquez and Diaz at #2 and #3. They absolutely can skip Barerra.

 

The WBA regular title is not vacant, so Guzman vs. Valero would only be an eliminator to be Moses mando. But its irrelevant because Valero will be removed from the WBA rankings anyways if he wins the WBC interim title against Pitalua, so you can scratch him off the list.
