Nah . . . I don't believe so . . . this is a sudden scenario . . . so the number 2 and 3 will be an eliminator but never for the title. It's not MAB's fault that the title suddenly became vacant.

The rules state that when a title becomes vacant, a title fight will be ordered between the top 2 available contenders. Barerra is not available to fight #2 through #8, as he has already signed to fight #9. The next step down would be #2 Marquez vs. #3 Diaz, which is well within the rules.

I'm not saying Paco will make this decision within the next 10 days before the Marquez-Diaz fight, but he would be well within the rules if he chose to do so.

    Edit: From the WBO Rules......

"In the case that a World Championship is declared vacant, the two best classified contenders available as determined by the Championship Committee shall be granted a period not to exceed 30 days to negotiate a contract for the vacant World Championship"

    Marquez-Diaz clearly meets this criteria.

I just find it funny that when the belts were around Nate's waist, neither Diaz or Marquez cared anything about trying to get them, but now that they are vacant they are all over it. lol

I think it makes perfect sense to put as many titles as possible on the Marquez v Diaz match up. If the WBA is put on the WBC fight of JMM v JD then that for me is the lineal title. No one is lineal at 135 yet as the two top dogs still ain't fought. Campbell has pulled himself out of the race by not making weight.

I'm sure the WBO will pull some funny busness to make Kahn/Barrera for the Lightweight title, As for Casamayor/Diaz for the IBF title, I havent heard anything about that but anything to make having another Unified champ again faster.

You might want to retract that statement. The WBO just announced that Marquez-Diaz will in fact be for the vacant WBO title.

Nopes . . . I'm not retracting the statement. That's what I thought yesterday . . . they announced it after my statement, so that means what I have in mind is wrong. :D

I'd love to see the LW division unified....Juan Diaz came close till he got his a$$ whooped by Nate...Undisputed LW champ could be Marquez in the next 24 months--IF HE DON'T CHASE PAC WHICH I WOULDN'T BLAME HIM FOR CHASING THE BEST IN THE WORLD AT ALL!

With the WBA you could ask that of many of their ranked fighters.
