that is my understanding aswell ,so technically any promoter can put a purse bid in for the fight ..which is intresting to see wether "amir Khan "promotions (who co promoted his last fight ) put a bid for this or wether another promoter puts a bid in for it ,and he could sign with whoever .

Any promoter can win a purse bid for a fight. But if the fight goes to purse bids Khan will vacate as the split would be 60-40 (WBA rule for Champ vs Interim) rather than 75-25.

Goldenboy have options on Maidana so if that is the fight happens it will be because of a deal before purse bids, don't be suprised if its promoted by them for Khans US debut

Khan has the skills to win this,he just has to keep calm and not do anything daft, his best bet would be to keep the defence tight and pile up points.Taking risks in this fight would probably cost him the title.I think Warren will make the winning bid,he will pull out all the stops to get the fight in the uk.

depending on who khan fights leaving out the likes of bradley, urango, alexander, malignaggi, we may see quite a few fights ending just like the salita fight did, lots of round 1 kos will really put khan on the map.

i'd keep khan away from the other belt holders for awhile but maidana looks a comfortable win for amir.

i do think khan will always struggle with a taller rangey banger though.

Indeed. Going by the way the article is worded, it looks like they are just using an angle to hype the fight by saying that Roach 'fears' Maidana. After all, we all know that The Sun are on Warren's balls. Going by the quotes from Khan and Warren recently, the fight looks like it's in motion:happy.

That quote from Roach is from just after the Kotelnik fight.

if JMM-Floyd had about 2-3,000 empty seats at the MGM Grand then Floyd-Malinaggi is probably going to be half empty. Wouldnt be suprised to see GBP put Khan-Maidana on the UC and hope some brits come and fill the place out a bit. Then you would get Roach at the pressers too which would make for some drama.

Doubt this actually goes to pursebids and can't imagine any turn of events that leads to it ending up in Argentina.
