Last night watching Khan v Kotelnik I was thinking to myself how does this guy (Kotelnik) hold a belt, as Khan just out boxed him round after round after round. I've just had a look at all the current WBA Champions and there isnt much there in the way of quality. Mosley and Marques are the only one that stand out to me in all divisions. Is the WBA belt worth anything ?

The WBA belt is worth a lot. Kotelnik is a genuine fighter who has proven his worth versus numerous champs - M'Baye, Witter, Maidain (sp?) etc

bottom half of the top 10 fighter.

that's what kotelnik has always been.

least khan did a better job than cagey bollocks. :yep

witter behaving all dismissive in the build up and the kid did a better job than he did.

Kotelniks never been beaten so clear. His draw with M'Baye and his loss to Witter were extremely close.

This whole mess stemmed from the WBA forcing Kostya to vacate due to inactivity. M'baye and Harris fought for the subsequent title. Harris beat M'baye but then went on to loose to Maussa. Maussa then lost the belt to Hatton. Hatton vacated it and the vacant belt was then contested by M'baye who Warren added to his stable to freeze out Hatton. M'baye and Ree's fought for the belt. Amazingly M'baye a seasoned pro lost in an absolute stinker (looked like a fix to me). Ree's then got his ass handed to him for being an overweight feather by Kotelnik suffering a TKO loss in the 11th round if i recall.

None of this mess would have ensued if Hatton had done the right thing and defended his belt. The belt chopped and changed hands with mediocre champions as frequent as a ***** could drop her strides. And whats worse is the WBA is the oldest of all the championship belts. Its historicity is unparalleled. But there a pathetic organisation without a shread of morality who introduced the world to watered down champs with this Super Champion nonsense. There champs at 140 have been even worse since Kostya's retirement.

The WBA is the shittiest out of 4 belts although probably still more prestigous than the WBO I would say it's now easier to win. I think there is going to come a point pretty soon where this belt just gets disregarded by fans and the media.

Hatton was going to defend against Lazcano but he pulled out with a bad hand.

That was the excuse for facing him later.
