WBA declares Lebedev as champion “in recess”, grants a special permit to Dorticos to unify

“Champion in recess.” I like it. The Ring should have done that for Fury.

 

Lebedev is a warrior, but he has been through so many wars that I wonder how many more he can take.............

 

Lebedev lost to Gassiev in a title fight, the fact that he is still WBA champ is a joke.

 

Why exactly is he in recess? Isn't this normally used when the champ is unable to fight for a prolonged period of time. If he's fighting and not defending the belt then he should be stripped.

Anyway this is a good gig for Lebedev. His recess status means he can challenge for the belt whenever he wants. And since the winner of the WBSS will have all four belts he has a chance to go for undisputed cruiser

 

Lebedev's reign was pretty long, spanning from 2012 to 2018, making him the third longest reigning cruiserweight champion behind Marco Huck and Johnny Nelson.
