The WBA let Don King buy the belt to begin with, then install an obese club fighter as the champion.

Then allow him to screw Manuel Charr out of a title shot twice, through "administration issues".

Charr would have obliterated Bryan had he been allowed to face him and the WBA did nothing.

So lets cut the crap about the WBA doing King dirty

The split for the next fight pales in comparison to what they did to Charr

Now now, destruction, two wrongs don't make a right.

Also, Charr defended his belt once between December 2017 and December 2021, so let's put away the violins

This isn't even a real titlefight. It's the WBA regular vs the WBA interim. Not much bigger as what interational vs intercontinental was back in the day.
There's one WBA champion, and he is in negotiation for a rematch against Joshua (the former WBA champion).
And then there's the obvious gap in quality and popularity between the 2 pretend WBA champions. Seriously, Bryan is making a huge step up in class here. Is either Rossy, who ended up getting robbed against Stiverne in his next fight, or BJ Flores his best win to date?!

Sure, I agree. Bryan holds a secondary title. But the WBA don't feel that way and consider him their champion, with Usyk being the Super Champion.

As for levels, having watched a little of both fighters, I wouldn't say Bryan is making a "huge" step up in class at all. He dismantled Stiverne (who didn't come to lie down) in a very professional manner. I suspect he will likely be more of a challenge than anyone else Dubois has wins over, imho. Just my personal view, but I'd have Dubois say fringe top 20 and Bryan fringe top 30. I expect Dubois to win, all the same.

Now is Bryan on the level of a Joyce? Hell no, but at the same time, neither is Dubois. But, I think Warren is moving (has been forced to move) Dubois in the correct way now. Once he gets past Bryan, he will likely face off against Helenius then hopefully (if he gets past him) he'll be a bit more ready to challenge at the top.

At the end of the day though, Bryan is WBA's champion, and therefore he should be getting the split as outlined by them 75/25, not this 55/45 that they have seemingly pulled out of nowhere.

So I understand King's grievance at being shafted for the benefit of Warren

WBC antics against Whyte regarding changing their own ruling for splits when champion vs interim champion has set a dangerous president.

King is very old and not relevant anymore. He should retire, but will likely dupe some fool one more time.

Don King is and has been a cancer to professional boxing for almost all of his career. Good riddance.

All 3 years of them? He's fed the fans garbage and sold it well if we look back honestly.

He’s had plenty of good to great cards in the 80s and 90s.
Not to mention he made The Rumble in the jungle amongst others.

The 80's if we look back was one of the worst decades for boxing saved only by HBO pushing Tyson. The Rumble in the Jungle deserves credit but overall he was a serious cancer for the sport and held it back for decades. Thank god the European fighters came through and dislodged his stranglehold on the sport.

I think if you make a thread and a poll most people would vote the 80s as one of the best if not the best decade in boxing due to tge 4 Kings.
He disnt hold back anything other than money from fighters. He never made a fuss about big fights not happening since he was winning anyway getting options on every fighter.
