The WBA and it's 2 or more world titles in the same division has never made thier set up look like a bigger farce than it does now. Why ? Because they now have 2 world champions in the same division from the same city in Callum Smith and Rocky Fielding. Poor Rocky isn't even the WBA super middleweight champion of his own city let alone the world. No way is this a pop at Ricky but of the WBA, what's peoples thoughts?

It’s a money making scheme. More licensing fees etc. The problem with it is that in most divisions it’s held by poor fighters. For example in the heavyweight division if someone like Parker, Povetkin, Ortiz, Whyte, Miller held it then you’d get some decent fights out of it. Now many of these second tier fighters aren’t willing to fight each other. They just hold out for a mandatory title shot.

They are better off making it an intercontinental title. And making a rule that if you defend it twice in 12 month period you get an automatic mandatory within 9 month against the proper world champ. That way they make sanctioning fees for 3 fights and the belt doesn’t have the “world title” status. Plus if you stick to the rule you get guaranteed mandatory status unlike the wbc Whyte farce.

I know Moog, it's a bloody joke. Throughout history the WBA seems to be the most comical of the big 4 alphabet sanctioning (corrupt) bodies.

Shame for Rocky, good win but really a paper title.

The alphabet organisations do not remotely give a **** about boxing, none of them.
All they’re interested in is lining their corrupt pockets.

Farce is the right word, imagine if they all did it there would be eight champions in every weight division.

Any real boxing fan knows the score here. It's an interim belt basically, not a legitimate world title. The casuals can be fooled but what's new there? Their whole interest in boxing is what promoters wish to tell them. The show goes on.

Any boxer who wins this trinket and calls themselves a world champion has reached Amr Khan levels of delusion.

Don't tell a GGG fan the WBA Regular is a farce, 3/4 of his defense record come from that beauty of a belt lol

Did he actually win them? Who did he beat to win them?, I thought he was just gifted them?

Still has more defenses of the regular than he did the Super
