Ricardo Mayorga (29-8-1, 23 KOs) after an 18 month foray in MMA. Plans call for Mayorga to have a comeback fight early in the year, which will get him rerated by the WBA. He will then challenge newly crowned WBA interim middleweight champion Dmitry Chudinov (12-0-2, 8 KOs) on April 20th in Russia. The event will be presented by top Russian promoter Vladimir Hrunov. source is news about fights its bad enough the WBA have 3 belts , but apparently so weak that a 12-0-2 fighter has one of their belts....and all Mayorga has to do is win 1 fight against a scrub to be rated thus getting a shot. titles are such garbage these days
Ricardo Mayorga comeback fighter of the year 2014. He knocks out Chudinov then slaps GGG around the ring. :deal
here is some perspective for you Mayorga is 40 years old and has 4 wins in 10 years been inactive for 18 months. give him an interim title shot WBgay, he has apparently earned it!
i think the WBA want to have the reputation as a leper. why else would they be doing crazy stuff like this...
I think fans, tv networks and other media outlets should blackball the WBA. It cannot continue as one of the major titles any longer, it's a farce.
Absolutely ****ing shameful by the WBA. Get ready for more trash talk and cigar-smoking, at least that'll be entertaining. Can Mayorga even win fights anymore? He never had great skills, does he have anything left?
Similar to when golota made a comeback against 2 journeyman and got rated ibf 15 after don king announced the fight with ibf champ Chris Byrd. Name value and powerful Promoter.
As much as the BWA situation is ludicrous, Chudinov vs. Mayorga is a great bit of matchmaking (not for a world title, but in every other way). Even semi-retired and well on hi way to shot last time he was in the ring, Mayorga is a good test and step up for Chudinov and puts some potential name value on his resume. Conversely, even though Chudinov is green and somewhat limited for a titlist his unbeaten record and high ranking would provide Mayorga with terrific comeback fodder and enhance his own resume and set him up for a payday. ...and, for the fans this is great because it would be 100% fun guaranteed and slightly unpredictable.
Keep up the good work iceman71. Your efforts to expose and humiliate the boxing governing bodies and promoters does not go unnoticed.
Well, calling out the org bull**** is kind of like shooting fish in a barrel, but yeah, iceman is doggedly persistent in his muckraking, you gotta give him that. :yep :good
