If the rumors are to be believed...who do you think wins in the proposed WBA Heavyweight matchups:

    Valuev v. Liakhovich

    Ruiz v. Williamson

    Valuev and Ruiz.

Setting up a must see eliminator match between the two - which will be titled

    "Huggy Bear v Grizzly Bear"

Funny that Valuev already won against Ruiz (although I heard the decision was robbery). Big rematch?

I know they've already fought, I just couldn't think of a way to get the number 2 into the title... ;)

"Big Rematch" is good, I like that.

    or

    "Revenge of the Octopus"

Not sure about the Lyakhovich-Valuev fight - it would be a very interesting matchup and a tossup for me. Lyakhovich is inconsistant. I was real high on him after the Brewster fight in which he looked like the total package. But in the Briggs fight, he looked tentative and sluggish - eventually getting stopped in the 12th. Valuev has a decent jab for a heavyweight and is so tough to hurt, so tall, and so physically strong. No pick on that fight.

I would pick Ruiz over Williamson

It wasnt a robbery, but a close fight which could really go either way. However,as American heavies tend to be quite whinny as soon as they lose outside their native soil American media at once jumps at the wagon calling any point decision against an American fighter outside the USA a robbery.
I for my part had Valuev ahead on points as Ruiz hadnt done enough to win a point decision IMO.
The outcome of Valuev vs Donald was much more controversial than Valuev vs Ruiz.

In a fair fight, where the rules are enforced, even the mediocre Williamson will beat Ruiz. Of course, he better watch the body punches - Ruiz fakes a mean "low blow." :nod

The Valuev-Lyakhovich fight is intriguing - depending on which Sergei shows up. If we see the "White Wolf" of the Brewster fight, it could go either way. The lethargic Sergei of the Briggs fights loses by wide UD.

I dont see why Sergei is in this tournament..Briggs would be a better choice considering he KO'd the white wolf.

I agree, I haven't got a clue quite how Liakhovich will perform. Valuev tends to be pretty consistant in his efforts...I'd have to give Liakhovich a fair chance to outbox the guy if he's at his best, but I have no idea if he will be.

Ruiz-Williamson...well, Williamson has never beaten anyone I've been high on, and you just can't bet against Huggy Bear.

I wish Valuev still had that belt and fought Wlad to unify. It would be interesting to see if that ogre can be knocked out cold!
