Great vid again Rums! You forgot to mention the ridiculous Valuev/Chagaev WBA title dance, where for a short period in '08-'09 both held the same WBA belt, while Chagaev had beaten him fair and square in '07. And then they went on to strip Chagaev shortly before the Wlad fight, because they didn't want a unification to happen, but a Valuev rematch instead.
As you dig through the heavyweight title histories of the four orgs, it's clear over and over and over that the WBC is the real world title. Further, no WBC heavyweight champion in history has ever lost in a unification fight.
You're certainly entitled to your opinion, but I personally believe Fury will be heavily favored to beat Usyk.
No, he wasn't. He should have been IBF (twice), Ring and lineal, but as far as I know he never won a WBA strap.
The WBA (NBA) was at one time THE title in boxing. It's not even close to having that degree of respect now, and hasn't had that for years. When I started watching boxing it had Lineal status for most boxing fans. It's not alone. Most awards are like that now, much less meaning.
That's right, that was a long, long time ago. I believe it actually was Lennox vs Holy II And how many times did it actually happen in history? Lennox 2 fights (1-0-1, because there was a rematch), Tyson 2 fights (2-0, as part of an unification tournament), Ali 1 fight (1-0). And that's it, I guess... 5 times. The only other unfication of the belts wasn't a real unification but featured a vacant WBC belt won by the WBA holder Frazier. So, there's that... the big names in the division used to have the WBC belt, but then it went south after Vitali took a hold of it and of course didn't fight his brother, and afterwards retired again, leaving Stifferne and Arreola of all people fighting for the vacant belt. Neither had any shimmer of hope against an on the slide 2014 Wlad of course if an unification took place there and then. Then Wilder got the jump on the titleshot, which shouldn't have been his, but they had to put him in because Stiverne would most certainly lose to the ones that were actually in line. Would Wilder have won a unification at that time? Not according to his trainer he wasn't. 2015 Wlad was on the slide, but obviously still too good for (maybe every version of) Wilder back then. Now Fury holds the strap, but hardly even defends it, and is out of shape too often. He has a very good chance of unifying if he takes the fight. Maybe he can keep the streak going, although it isn't that much of a streak at all.
