Having just heard that Valuev and Chagaev will rematch each other, with (drumroll) John huggy bear Ruiz as the mandatory, I find myself both disgusted and apathetic Is there a belt in boxing that is currently anymore meaningless than the WBA Heavy Weight belt? A time line of the last decade of the WBA HW title WBA strips Lennox Lewis of the title for refusing to fight John Ruiz 2000-title is held by Evander Holyfield and is defended ZERO times 2001-2003-Title is then held by John Ruiz defended twice, being lost to 2003-Roy Jones Junior, who beats the most atrocious HW "Champion" in history and wins the meaningless belt 2004-RJJ moves back down to 175, title is again held by John Ruiz 2004-2005-Ruiz makes 2 defenses loses title to 2005-Nikolai Valuev who holds the title until 2007-When he loses to Ruslan Chagaev 2008-Who is declared Champion in recess and the "Ordinary" title given to Valuev again
Yep, it's a ****in' joke. The whole organisation is a joke. An ordinary world champ and a super world champ, what the **** is that about.
As more evidence, the WBA Top 3 HWs have consisted of John Ruiz, Nikolai Valuev, and Ruslan Chagaev rotating spots for the last 3 years Ruiz and Valuev have fought twice Ruiz has Valuev also Valuev and Chagaev are not rematching eachother and the winner shall again fight Ruiz the title has done this Ruiz>Valuev>Chagaev>Valeuv-Chagaev>winner faces Ruiz again
More evidence, the WBA currently has an Interim Heavyweight title a champion in recess title An Ordinary Title and a supposed "Super Champion title" should there ever be unification You want to know the most ****ed up part? These titles could all theoretically exist at the same As of right now, there are only 2
Look at the guys Kessler fought to win his vacant WBA title. Khan suddenly gets a shot at Kotelnik's WBA title having done precisely nothing at 140lbs. This title has no credibility in any weight class.
another one to add to that lis is Linares fighting for the vant WBA 130 pound title in his first fight in that division against a guy that was koed in the first round by Valero it doesnt get much worse than that.
Also worth mentioning, there's a chance that by the time the WBA concludes their investigation on Hoy-Valuev, Evander will likely get ANOTHER title shot.
Dunno, first I've heard of that. It's bad enough having four "major" organisations but then for the individual organisations to have separate belts in the same division is just mind blowing.
Oh sweet jesus the WBA Title is gonna do this then Chagaev-Valuev->Ruiz- >Evander This is like a ****ing carousel ride with this ****. Whoever is in charge of the WBA needs to have a gun put to the head and have their brains blown out all over their desk. The IBO title has more merit than the ****ing WBA
I'm of the firm belief that hell is run by the same people who run the WBO and WBA. And the only thing on TV in hell is Cory Spinks and John Ruiz fights.
I used to think it was bad that 4 guys can claim to be the champion in any given weight-class - but when 4 guys can claim to be the WBA champion in any given weight-class ... I'm not really sure what to say to that.
