How is it that James DeGale is making such a jump in class from 4 round fights to a 12 round title fight for the WBA International Super-Middleweight title? Can somebody shed some light on what this title even is/means and its credibility?
First of all he's fighting for the WBA Intercontinental title, not the 'International' version of the second tier title. The title means nothing. It'll get him a decent ranking with the WBA, and maybe placate Degale whilst his amateur adversary George Groves fights for a more established, prestiguous title, the commonwealth super-middle belt (although the Commonwealth belt has fallen in the esteem of many recently). And I doubt that he's going to get 12 rounds under his belt, but it's good to see that he's already in theory contesting fights that could go the full twelve rounds.
</p> On SkySports.com it says International title, hence my thinking it's a worthless title.Still is.Was disappointed that he wouldn't fight Groves on the Haye-Ruiz undercard
